I got my wife, her mother and sister into bitcoin. They love it.

bitcoin is actually very good position for women who legally can't get bank accounts in certain countries.

My wife is into bitcoin the idea, but still is pretty green when it comes to understanding some of the grittier technical details. To be fair though, outside of the forums for which I spend the the majority of my time talking about bitcoin, pretty much ANYONE I have ever talked with about bitcoin is the same way. I believe it is just an early adopters game right now, with more people, including women, coming on board once the UX is better.

    Well, I'm a girl and I like Bitcoin :)

I don't really know of any large scale surveys, but the University of Nicosia Introduction to Digital Currencies course is about 10% female and a recent Reddit /bitcoinmarkets survey was 1.6% female.

I think there is a lot that still needs to be done on the wallets and general usage of bitcoin before we see a much larger adoption. They are being built now as well as bitcoins with insurance like Circle will only make it easier for everyone non-tech.

Every girl I've talked to has been completely turned off by the idea of bitcoin.

every guy i've talked to [in person] had no idea what bitcoin was... :P but to be fair, neither did the girls. i too attribute it to early-adopter phase

@adam I'd love to get some more female personalities on the air. Stephanie does great work but I know it's lonely :)

    any specific qualifications required?

I'm a girl. If circumstances were different I would definitely use bitcoin more than I do today. As it is now, my significant other handles most of our money, both fiat and bitcoin, so on the few occasions when I do make a purchase I usually borrow his device to pay with rather than getting my own.

My mother has made a long-term investment in some bitcoin, waiting for more of those bubbles.

Few girls used the internet in its beginning too, but look at it now. Nobody goes "OMG YOU'RE A GIRL!" when they see someone online now, but that's what they did when I first started using the internet in the '90s. In fact, back then, a lot of people just assumed I was lying when I claimed to be a girl, that's how uncommon it was. Give bitcoin some years to become mainstream and then it'll be used commonly by all kinds of minorities.

Girls going off about being girls and using bitcoin is like a white rapper that won't stop talking about being white around black peeps. Irrelevant. Constant announcement of skin color is not important, counterproductive, and a complete waste of time.
