Statisticly speaking, the amount of females in key positions seems to be pretty much nonexistent.
I know for a fact that there is a few girls using it, and we've had a couple visit our weekly meetups where I live but they're well below the 1% threshold.
Why this is I don't really know, money should apply equally to all in society. I'm guessing it has to do with social perceptions.

Some Chinese bitcoin exchange hire girls as some kind of promotion as there are only a handful of females in the community. I a meetup last month, I saw only 1 girl. So yes, it's still too complicated for girls to understand btc in China.

I wonder if this is because historically finance has been a male dominated sector? It will be interesting to see how the crypto space evolves

That and computer/technology industry has always been male dominated.

I'd love to get some more female personalities on the air. Stephanie does great work but I know it's lonely :)

There are definitely girls in the space, albeit few and far between. If you go to the conferences you will actually see a decent amount of women participating and exploring bitcoin, but they are definitely the minority.

Bitcoin does not care about gender in any way. You either participate or you don't.

@irnhnve Statistically speaking, females are more prone to be risk averse which is why the finance industry is overwhelmingly male. This coupled with the lack of female involvement in the tech industry compared again to male involvement creates one huge male dominated industry that is crypto.
Have to call bullshit. You are taking a given historical situation, that is culturally derived, and attempting to apply it as a universal biological principle. Not only is this logically faulty, it makes you both a gender and cultural chauvinist.
In case I'm not being clear, there are many examples throughout history and in many different cultures, wherein women took a larger role in decision making (which necessarily involves evaluating risk) and individually adopted risky behaviour in an effort to contribute to significant change or military victory.
The diffence is that in some cultures women are encouraged to engage in such behaviour and in others they are actively discouraged. Absolutely nothing to do with biology.
