  • Re: Hackers Steal $1.65 Million in NXT from BTER Exchange

    Terrible news for BTER, but I'm of the opinion that a rollback is quite unsettling.

    How would you go back and redistribute the transactions that came afterwards? Sure they could be recreated, but then how do you go about and prevent the double spend in the instant that the chain is backed up and then reinitialized?

    The security of the blockchain is that added transactions are added transactions forever. They are the first and last authority on the issue, and the idea of potentially rolling it back t I feel undermines a key part of the philosophy of the ledger system in the first place.

  • Re: 100K LTBCoin for BTC

    Sorry, mate. You're looking for roughly 2.5-4x the current market rate if you look at both Melotic and Counterparty. Too much heat for my blood on that trade.

  • Re: LTB editing should be de-centralised

    It was my understanding that the editing process would eventually be fully decentralized (or at least -- as much as possible) from my conversations with Adam and the other editors. This would actually start with authors hiring editors themselves, which I think many would not be willing to fork up the LTBc right now. As you can imagine, this is relatively difficult when we all need to make sure that the content is something that people will actually want to read (no dirt, hatred, real nasty stuff etc), and is structurally sound enough to present to people (grammar, flow, word choice, etc).

    Keep in mind that although we are contributing content to the LTB network, the LTB network is ultimately more at risk for publishing our content than we are. Most people that come and read an article on LTB will think it is LTB's article, and not necessarily pay any attention to the person that wrote the article. If you want any proof of this, just think of all the buzz going around about how Coindesk and others are stealing articles from people. It is never the specific author that is accused, but rather the outlet.

    In regards to the current state of affairs, there's been a decline of editors (to which I have been utterly useless to everyone the past two weeks) and an influx of articles. We're working on this until the new system is functional. Which, by the way, Adam's writeup above is the most detailed iteration I've seen of this and it sounds great. In the meantime, I'll get back to work and try to help @rotalumis and @cherapple clean this mess up :P

    Chain Radio, on top of their game as always!

    I'll be tuning in after work for sure.

  • Re: How do you deal with plagiarism?

    @lovebitcoins

    @mike As has been stated above, they did manage to source you which I actually view as a good thing. I would love for my site's content to be syndicated by others so long as they point back to the original source and drive traffic to me!

    You realize they changed it after the fact. After he called them out for it and they saw this link in the logs. They wouldn't have done anything otherwise.

    I didn't realize that, no. This was a fresh thread and nobody had mentioned that, so I didn't imagine that they had enough time to see the post and change it. My apologies.

  • Re: LTBn value per user

    This is actually extremely cool. Especially when you consider that LTBc was only launched a very short while ago. Plus the average value per user is quickly approaching that of LinkedIn according the the article linked about.
