I have been trying to get some content published for about a month now and I can say publishing something on Let's Talk Bitcoin is harder than it was to get my thesis published by an academic publishing house. To begin with I haven't heard anything from my editor, then I get one message saying my article (which I was trying to publish as three separate pieces) needs to be longer. So I extended it and sent it back for approval. Then I hear nothing again for a very long time, until I get a new editor, with that new person it has been a constant back and forth, but nothing ever got done.
I think editing on Let's Talk Bitcoin should be de-centralised. It would be better to let the LTB community vote which articles they like.
Have you been trying to get stuff published on here? What was your experience like?
My experience was worse I think. I worked with an editor, was asked to re write. I was told my article didn't relate enough to bitcoin, but it seemed clear to me it simply wasn't understood. I suspect that is an issue with the centralized process (good editors that don't understand the subject well enough). But I was also asked after to re write with a more "personal" view clearly stating my point rather than an objective view that just gives the facts. But after I did that, I was told that perhaps I should re-write again and not state my point and go objective again. Which is strange because I anticipated it and explained that I hadn't given my point but just the facts with a hard direction to the point.
But then after a few conversations about how my piece might be able to "print" after the weekend, sometime beyond that I noticed I wasn't hearing replies back from my editor. After finally querying the forum I was told by another (lead?) editor that I was rude to my editor and that my piece will not be printed. All I really did was make light of the slow editing process in relation to how significant my piece was, and I DID apologize for the accidental inappropriateness.
I was also given a hard impression that I will NEVER get any articles publish by the team of editors available (although told I am welcome to try).

Hi Joey,
Decentralization means that publishing is a negotiation between writers and editors until both are happy with the content.
I don't think this is what decentralization means at all. It seem like quite the oppostie.

Maybe we can get a place on the forum to post any article we write that doesnt get accepted and let the community decide. Perhaps take the top few articles per week from the community section and feature them on the front page. I submitted something last night about a meetup we had and if it doesnt get accepted I just want to post it anyways, but I'm not sure what section I should do that in.
Also the ability to write and browse through personal blogs should be added
This to me is decentralization, and although we all admit the forum is overloading from rapid growth, it can't be too hard with the current format to add a section where people link to their blogs and members upvote the ones they think are best for "front page" material. At least it would be a good way to filter more interesting/well written articles to the editors.
I'm sure everyone feels this way but what is interesting is I can't help but feel that my article would be one of the most read ever on LTB, and I can't help but feel it would get upvoted with the same vigor.
I was excited about this process because I have ideas for about 10 interlinked articles (ranging all the way to internet gaming which is a VERY significant crypto topic no one seems to be covering) which would do well with a "forum" for media like LTB...but it got really political really fast.
In the meantime, NOBODY is talking about "Ideal Money" the lecture that predicted all this economic change, and to me that is a crying shame!
