Hey guys/gals, my name is Matt and I've been studying bitcoin behind the scenes since it's 2010. I'm a materials scientist, UI/UX designer and entrepreneur. I formally worked as a process engineer specializing in the development of thin film material.
In a recent former life I worked in a team of two to develop a hybrid social network that combined core attributes of twitter and facebook into a localized network. Unfortunately, the idea never took as it happens with most social startups. Since then I've spent a large amount of my time studying cryptocurrencies and the problems we need to solve in order to eliminate friction in adoption. I feel the world needs easier ways to mine cryptographic currencies that are outside of computational mining, which is what has led me to LTBcoin.

Re: Should LTBcoin forum have a sub-category for discussing nothing but new Proof of Work concepts?
The only one I would add as a possibility is Proof Of Referral - if you introduce someone to the network and that person registers an account, would/should that provide a quantifiable value to the network and therefore reward the person who made the referral? I'll add it to etherpad anyway.
I've thought about Proof of Attendance, like if you attended a conference or something but I think we should focus on only a handful of these proofs to make it easy for everyone to understand (at least at first).
What technological challenges are there related to tracking any of these activities? Might this determine which proofs are actually tracked and tallied by the network?More great thoughts Mike!
I think we still need to narrow down the core areas of coin distribution, then justify which proof if work models are needed to run that realm of LTB, how we want the system to operate.
I just wanted to know if I should create a sub section for discussing each potential proof of work models.

Could you draft a proposal for this? The concept of how it would operate.

Re: [ANN] LTBcoin Wallet - Help Design the Featureset, We've got a Dev!

I think LTBCoin is really an awesome idea. The kind of idea that changes things. I also think http://www.humint.is/ is a great great idea! I work in the web for 15 years, and he comes to my mind dozens of clients that could be interested .
My application is a good basis for developing custom wallets, either as a desktop application or as webwallet (it takes a bit of work, but I prefer to wait to finish well the light desktop version before starting). What I propose for LTBWallet is to prepare the list of features that you can imagine for. Even better if you have time to prepare a mockup with any tool like http://www.mockflow.com/.I prefer to leave you free to imagine the most useful and original features, rather than tell you, that's what you can or can not do. Of course I am at your disposal if you have any questions.Once I have theses informations, I will give you a time for development.
I will take care of LTBWallet in priority over everything else, because I think this is the best way to promote XCP.. and my work ;-)
Cheers
This email came in this morning, JahBit is the guy who has been implementing the first desktop GUI and by all accounts is one of the most qualified people to build us such a wallet. Let's take advantage of this, propose and discuss features both for a conventional wallet but lets also think about what a web-wallet built into a website like LTB could look like. Keep in mind the Web Wallet won't store any funds, it will just be an interface to access your funds and will be recoverable on other services besides the LTB website in the event we go down. I NEVER want to store any funds on any LTB servers, if something needs such an application we should contract with a reliable vendor of such a service, preferably insured.
What about a wallet that stored all coins that were DAC's?

Re: What are/should be the core areas that cover all of LTB's coin distribution?
Adam said: I fully support a fleshing out of my somewhat handwavy ideas.
I figured you wouldn't mind. I just wanted to start drilling down on your open governance idea, which I'm fully supporting. I think we should decide things in the following order.
Core Areas of Operation (5 nodes)
Distribution model (Cyclical)
Method of Operation (Stategic)Road MapThe model presented above is consolidation of items 1-3 and is based on on the idea of "cellular automata" which gives us a model to work off of. Not too mention Conways game of life is "Turing Complete".
We asked for wild ideas and here is one, I am up for discussion on any of this.Posted on March 18, 2014 at 5:16 AM

Re: Project Needing Developers: Clone of http://helpmewrite.co/ powered by LTBcoin
deweller said: I've been looking for an opportunity to get involved with LTBcoin as a developer and this project is a good fit for my skillset.
Here is a rough blueprint:
- The code is open source on GitHub- I can take project lead and manage the dev. community- The tech stack is PHP (Ubuntu Linux/Nginx/PHP 5.5+/MongoDB)
If this happened, would other devs pitch in and contribute?
Any other comments?I'm not a dev, but I'm in support.

What are your thoughts on DeleteCoin? Could LTBcoin use this model?
The idea of DeleteCoin is something I've been thinking about for the past couple days and I wanted to see what the community thought about it?
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/8217-deletecoin-del-information/
DeleteCoin as I've come to understand accepts virtually any altcoin and "proof-of-burns" that asset into DeleteCoin, basically taking copycat useless altcoins and combining them into a single asset. This has been proven to work and did so with counterparty's initial burn. This is the only concept of Deletecoin I want to use, other details regarding deletecoin aren't relevant to LTBcoins disbursement model.
The reason why I'm asking this is because a lot of people have asked how they can buy 'LTBcoin' or will it be possible to buy 'LTBcoin' and the answer will be no until its available on an exchange. However, a critical backbone of LTBcoin is the idea of tipping and goodwill in general and if LTBcoin accepted donations in any cryptocurrency LTBcoin could in turn existing lowvalue assets into a highervalue asset through LTBcoin.
I think accepting all cryptos as donations through a one-way single portal can help the LTBcoin community establish an adoption of the entire alt coin community, the alt community as whole is much bigger than the bitcoin community. LTBcoin could be distributed initially to a wider market as well.
Let's be honest the 1000's of altcoins to flood the market aren't all going to be successful, which is ok, but people lose out in the end. Inbreeding is not necessarily helping the market grow with such few miners. Using existing assets to create value in ways that are outside of computational mining seems more important to me. Traditional mining methods only benefit a very small percentage of users, LTBcoin will be mined by everyone participating on the network.
I look at altcoins like startups, 99% of them will fail in the long term even innovative ones. This donation gateway could provide a way to recycle your coins. Since the real value of LTBcoin is derived from its use within the network.
We could do a lot of innovative things with this model, but if it's too taboo than it's too taboo.Posted on March 18, 2014 at 4:41 AM

Re: Asynchronous Content Creation
rubenalexander said: I've seen stories written one at a time and writers go and grab images or audio related to that story. The process can be very linear.
What if there were a silo of media that any writer could use with their story? Content creators in this case would not even be knowingly working together, but creating an abundance of content with less hindrances.
Does the LTBcoin support asynchronous content cration?
Are you thinking of a content library because this has been brought up before?
You could use a tagging system for reference and finding relevant content. I think this would also give any user the opportunity to be a contributor, even before demand of content exists. You could upload casual discussions people have, solicited articles, etc. Levels within the community could sort through content and find the most interesting stories and information to talk about. Potentially old irrelevant content might become more relevant as time progresses.
On the other hand, there could very well be a demand for the kind of services kerneloops mentioned, or even an LTB job board, and anyone can just set something up as their own business within the LTB ecosystem. Such initiatives don't have to be a community effort. The consensus can come after the fact in the form of which services people actually use.
So you're suggesting LTBcoin eventually progress and incorporate ideas outside of just content and media?Posted on March 18, 2014 at 4:16 AM
