Re: ltbcoin is junk
Thanks for all the responses. I was able to recover my ltb account after the series of problems I encountered. I don't think it's a good long term strategy to tell people to sell their shares of ltbcoin when they're frustrated. I have contributed to ltb in a numbers of ways. It's painful to see so many problems encountered with a release, some of which I offered to solve without compensation. Adam has criticized other companies for doing the same. Despite all that, I am impressed with the ltb community. I look forward to contributing more of my ideas soon.

Re: Is LTBcoin jumping the gun??
Thank you for the in-depth response. While sidechains sound ideal in some aspects, their complexity is far from ideal. Namecoin is a complete alt coin that uses sha-256, the same as bitcoin. I believe it would be a struggle to get all the pools to adopt a bunch of sidechains unless there's already a good reason to.
Your right in your explanation of moving assets from one data storage medium to another. It's definitely possible but seems like a lot of additional overhead. I believe protoshares and master coins both had a similar model where they bootstrapped into a asset that is more long term. I believe we will see many of the current models do the same until there is a feasible solution that is available at the beginning of new projects.
For someone like me, an ideal asset based coin would be easily creatable and accessible through various interfaces in a number of high level scripting languages. It will be interesting to see how the bitcoin 2.0 software plays out. I spoke at a meetup about how governments might someday outsource part of their decision making using consensus based blockchain technology. I think I blew some people minds on what is possible.
This topic of using applied cryptography to solve more problems than creating a low friction currency is important.Posted on April 10, 2014 at 1:25 PM

Re: Will the LTB Network require advertisers to use LTBcoin?
I can't imagine Easy DNS and other sponsors going through the hassle of figuring out the Counter Party wallet until it's easy as bitcoin. This creates a conflict of interest if LTB accepts bitcoin that doesn't go into the LTB ecosystem. Maybe the problem can be solved by early adopters spending their LTBcoin to sponsor the show for their own self interest.
If you want an empirical answer, you need to know how many people here are comfortable with the Counter party wallet. This will give you an idea or what advertisers will feel in regards to using LTBcoin to pay for advertisements.Posted on April 10, 2014 at 12:58 AM

Is LTBcoin jumping the gun??
I asked Adam in one of the meetups if counter party is ready for LTBcoin. His answer was no. However, he noted that with testing, country party would work as a host for LTBcoin. After listening to episode 99, I couldn't help think that sidechains are the best way forward. Everyone interested in starting a token based system is wondering the same thing. Basically, people are wondering if etherium, protoshares, nxt, coloured coins, master coins, ect are the best way to create a metacoin. Is Counter Party the right choice for LTBcoin or is it too early to tell?

Re: Metacoins! Here's what I've got, which ones am I missing? Whats your favorite?
I dumped all my protoshares rather quickly. I was mining on digital ocean until it blew up. I hold mastercoins but am disappointed with their progress. I just downloaded nxt but I'm not a fan of java. No surprise exchanges are having such a hard time implementing it. Every other wallet uses python and for good reason in my opinion at least. I'm excited about Etherium but they don't plan to release until next year. Counter party seems kinda flimsy from what little I've seen. I'm waiting to see if mastercoins or Etherium will win the race.
ps. I have some ripple that was given to me if someone wants to buy itPosted on March 30, 2014 at 2:03 AM

Re: A Python library for LTBCoin
Thanks for sharing. As Ethereum matures, useful interface libraries will be important.

How do you manage a brand that nobody controls though?

Re: Does letstalkbitcoin.com need to update their website?
I'm also developing an online news website and I'm looking for more ways to contribute to LTB. Is there something I can help with?

Re: Cryptocurrencies & Gaming
I have been working on a game with similarities to what your saying. The project encompasses both creation and simulation as in Minecraft and Second Life. I do have a prototype to answer some design questions but the project is in the modeling stage. You can see an early presentation at the Project Unbounded site. The cool thing is that people cacn contribute in so many ways. If your interested in being an early beta tester, you can play a big role in shaping the game world.
