It's a minor issue, but ProtoShares and AngelShares have rebranded under the BitShares "franchise" and are now BitShares-PTS and BitShares-AGS.

I dumped all my protoshares rather quickly. I was mining on digital ocean until it blew up. I hold mastercoins but am disappointed with their progress. I just downloaded nxt but I'm not a fan of java. No surprise exchanges are having such a hard time implementing it. Every other wallet uses python and for good reason in my opinion at least. I'm excited about Etherium but they don't plan to release until next year. Counter party seems kinda flimsy from what little I've seen. I'm waiting to see if mastercoins or Etherium will win the race.
ps. I have some ripple that was given to me if someone wants to buy it0 likes -

i think NXT is non-mining/POS. not a non-blockchain one. :) NXT (the platform) does have a blockchain and Nxt (the coin)

puck2 said: This is the first I've heard of Noirshares... I guess I have some reading to do... It hurt my head at first glance which is either a good sign or a bad sign, I can't tell.
I tried looking into it but couldn't understand what it was supposed to be. Even the client does not sync.

Ethereum - I'll buy some, I'm pretty excited about it. It's scope is limited in that it doesn't need to build all the features, it just needs to lay the foundation. Other dev's can create the apps and add value.PTS / AGS - I own some of each and I'm excited about what they could bring to market. They've botched so many things, but that should be expected in this industry. I don't think they've been malicious, just clumsy.NXT - I own some, but not really a fan of the community or the product. Even if Nxt builds the best tech, the lopsided distribution will take decades to work itself out.Mastercoin - I own some, but not thrilled with it being built on top of bitcoin. I'm not a fan of the bitcoin mining system.Counterparty - Same as mastercoin. I am impressed with their wallet/software. But I think it should be on a non-bitcoin blockchain. Emunie - I'll buy some because it's completely insane and ambitious. It's a true experiment that will be fun to watch what happens. It will probably blow up, but you never know, at least it's swinging for the fences. I'm very interested in the demand based supply and it's blockchain alternative. At least in the early days I was impressed with the community that surrounded it. I also think they have tried really hard to make a fair distribution model, especially since it will continue to be "distributed" as/if demand for it increases. The main issues with emunie are 1. A single dev 2. Terrible name 3. Not enough hard documentation, especially for how radical some of it's differences are to most 2.0'sLTBcoin - I'll support it. It's crazy, overambitious and like everyone else operating without a map.
One of the problems I see with bitcoin and services on top of bitcoin is that miners and bitcoin users don't always have their incentives aligned. Billions of petahashes don't mean a whole lot if those petahashes are controlled by a a tiny subset of bitcoin miners. Users will never be able to "vote" in anything that goes against the miners.0 likes -

After hearing this: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/e99-sidechain-innovation/ my interest in the metacoins has dropped significantly. Very cool stuff Adam, thanks for keeping us informed!

I would suggest that you add a sticky posting to the top of this thread with a summary listing all the various metacoins mentioned by posters in this thread.

I'm hyped about BitShares! Once they get beyond a certain critical point I think they will reach escape velocity in terms of marketing and bootstrapping a whole crypto ecology. Once and if the delegate system works, and people other than the main developers etc. are involved in marketing and evangelizing, the growth potential is tremendous.
Aside from that NXT, NEM and Counterparty I think are good investments. Potentially Ethereum as well, depending on how people are pricing the crowd-sale. Ripple I sometimes buy and sell cynically, but I have yet to find a decent exchange for it, and I am happy with everyone hating it as it deserves little else.
Mastercoin have had ample time, and still I see very little. Same with eMunie, what are they even up to? MaidSafe seems a bit too ambitious and complicated at this point in time.
