Eddie J. is an internet entrepreneur and business student from Salt Lake City. Being versed in a number of random subjects has led many of his projects to be quite imaginative. Despite being a creative type, he refuses to accept the artist title. His idealist state of mind often fuels a hopeless belief that one person can change the world. A wistful connection to cryptocurrencies has continued because he strongly believes in the opportunity they and the people around them present.

  • Re: Well I did it again

This post seems to embody the philosophy of the cesspool we call YouTube comments. Everyone saying stupid shit in the hope of getting someone to respond or give them a +1. It all seems rather desperate.

  • Re: CounterWallet Nightmare (with Happy Ending)

@lostdroid I saw your post on counterwallet forum. I'm having the same issue and there is no support as you know. Can you write how you setup the helper script and which commands you used? I'm stuck at installing the bip32utils.

  • Re: Counter Wallet Empty!

Just to be clear, this isn't the testnet, isn't related to my browser, and is not me typing in the passphrase wrong.

If you created a counterwallet before July 15, 2014 and didn't switch from the old wallets, your coins will be trapped there. I'm fairly certain this is the issue because the forums are filled with long winded talks about switching how wallets are generated / logged into.

  • Re: Burning LTB coin...

As I understand it, burning means the coins can never be spent again. I see burning more as an example of when a company self funds itself. The action of self funding shows future investors that your willing to risk your own money. If your money is on the line, they you already have strong incentive to make your project work. Burning is a way to transparently do this. Anyone can claim they spent n on their own project. If they spend or burn and can prove they were the original key holders, this proves that they have self invested.

  • Re: Counter Wallet Empty!

I'm guessing there are a bunch of people who never switched from the old to new wallets and now their coins are lost. From what I understand, you must install python, bip32untils, and use a script to get your private keys from an old wallet. Then import them into a new wallet. It doesn't seem very easy.

I also posted in the counterparty forum, unfortunately clearing my cache didn't do the trick. This response seems more related to missing addresses not old wallets.

It seems this might be the solution if you have the patience. I know Cryptonaut does a lot around here but I'm not sure people will be able to find the support they need to recover their coins. More info about the process here https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,507.0.html

EDIT: Refer to the last post from me on this page. post #10

Isn't that what I login with? When I put that in, it created a new wallet.

seems like I need to get the private keys from the old wallet to import into the new wallet. How is this done though?

  • Counter Wallet Empty!

I logged into counterwallet to see how much ltbcoin I have and to my surprise it created a new account. The new account was of course empty. I'm using Keepass for a password manager so I don't see any changes on my end. Is there anything to do?

  • Hide Your WOW Gold Bitlicense Is Coming

Under the current proposal, Second Life employees, Blizzard Employees, and any gaming company that has an in-game economy that can be used in real life will need to submit fingerprints and more to the FBI. The people that actually buy WOW gold or eve isk or what ever, will need to go through know your customer information screening.

Everyone should check out the reddit post about bitlicense. New York is following some of the recommendations from the Bitcoin Foundation and opening community dialog. http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2aycxs/hi_this_is_ben_lawsky_at_nydfs_here_are_the

The list of problems is exhausting. My least favorite maybe is "Virtual currency accounts not active for 5 years must be handed over to the state". Who came up with that idea? That would be like getting a dollar note with an expiration date on it. In cases where companies don't hold private keys, it would be near impossible to actually do.

What are your thoughts about the proposal? Are you going to submit all your private data to buy some game coins?

  • [suggestion] Keep Users Logged In

I frequent the site enough that I wouldn't mind staying logged in. I realize this is a tradeoff between security and convenience. If a token is tied to an ip address, it makes token hijacking useless except on shared networks. I have written code that does token logins in php, check it here, https://github.com/EddieOne/Deepwater-2/blob/master/core/includes/authentication.inc.php
