@coinfire It is one of those topics that has such a diverse range of facets that it could literally take even MORE time to learn everything you can learn.

Perhaps someone should offer a BS in Bitcoin :)

It's funny you say that. There is a university doing exactly that in greece, and of course Andres A. is involved. http://digitalcurrency.unic.ac.cy

@grandma Bitcoin is a good obsession.

I couldn't agree with this statement more. Do you feel the other cryptocurrencies are worth some of your time as well?

Absolutely. There isn't just one FIAT currency in this world and there isn't just one precious metal. There is something for everyone and diversity is a good thing. Cryptocurrency is an evolving beast all of it's own and I think there is plenty of room for innovation with successful new currencies. I like to think there is but one true block chain, but even bitcoin has a seperate testnet blockchain. That is a separate currency and it has real value, even if that value is only in the form of the knowledge you can gain from it.

I've just recently started exploring the testnet blockchain and have become fascinated with the ideas and the testing of new things to improve the blockchain and Bitcoin in general.

It seems a lot of people have some really great ideas!

I used to commit 100% of my free time to bitcoin but I've really absorbed everything to the point where I cannot find new content. I drive ~2 hours a day to work and back and used to stream podcasts nonstop and then research what they said in those podcasts when I wasnt driving.

Some of the things that took the most time: setting up a mining rig, learning the proper way to do cold storage, looking at the protocol to understand how each piece of the network functions and fits in with the other pieces.

    @coinfire

@swimmer63 Started looking into btc in February of 2013. I'm not a trained techie so my learning curve was steep. I started a little mining and then was a reseller and finally a manufacturer of the small USB miners. All on the side of course. Ended up being some significant income last year and early this year. But when I am not doing that I keep up with bitcointalk.org, new btc friends I have made around the world and listening to podcasts. It can be an all consuming hobby. But I have to believe we all have vision that most do not have today. I guess we'll see.

I'd love to interview you at some point for Coin Fire. Love hearing stories from people who were not previously in the tech world coming in to Bitcoin. Is that something you would be interested in?

    Sure. Happy to do it.

@jshow5555 Big % of my time too.

What sort of things are you doing with that time? Looking up prices? Researching and reading? The news? Forums? All of the above?

The function of the 1n3 is now to return to the s0urce, allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry, reinserting the prime program.

I have a loving family who will always come first and a full time job that is in no way related to cryptocurrencies; any remaining hours in the day are devoted to Bitcoin in some way or another with eating and sleeping shoehorned in wherever possible.

I stumbled across Bitcoin around February 2011. I began lurking on the forum now known as bitcointalk and began participating after a few weeks. By May, I couldn't get it out of my head so I launched BitBrew and dove right in.

The ebb and flow in my case comes in the manner in which I deal with cryptocoins. I try to rotate the projects/websites I'm working on so that each gets some TLC every few days. Some weeks I post only once or twice a day in the three forums I belong to. Some weeks twitter is the casualty in my crypto-triage. Facebook fell to the wayside long ago. Reddit is a place I have to remind myself to trawl but I'm getting better (as a matter of fact, I have to respond to a couple of private messages there regarding yet another possible project!). Not to mention emails, skype, meetups, in person discussions, trades, and now speaking engagements/panel discussions (come see me in Chicago this weekend, San Antonio next month and Seattle in September!).

    I need help.

@doogy Bitcoin Anonymous is a must! :) Repeat with me everyone...hi my name is___ and I am addicted to Bitcoin. physically I spend about 10-20% of my time reading or researching about bitcoin or related topics but I feel like my thought process is dominated by it. I try to relate every aspect of life not really to bitcoin so much but to consensus algorithms. I have to admit, I check the price at least once a day as well.

hahahah I think this might be a truth.

I wonder what the 12 step program would look like for Bitcoin lol.

My buddy was busting on me about this as well the other day so he challenged me not to look at anything bitcoin related for 2 days. The result: Epic Fail :)
