    I'm a graphic artist and small-scale inventor/entrepreneur who started spending a lot of my time exploring Bitcoin in early 2013.

    I've been accepting Bitcoin for design and print work since May 2013 (my first Bitcoin job was business cards for the Let's Talk Bitcoin team to bring to Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose).

    I've been selling Bitcoin Keychains since July 2013.

    I made Litecoin keychains a bit later in 2013, but they haven't been selling that well (anyone want a deal on 1000 Litecoin keychains?).

    I've written bitcoin articles on Let's Talk Bitcoin and Spelunk.in

    And in October of 2014 I became an LTB Network podcaster with The Bitcoin Game!

    I'm definitely not a Bitcoin expert, just an enthusiast who enjoys participating as much as I can.

    @zytrex What is the reason? (i like it :D)

    More likes means more LTBc at the end of the week. Interesting experiment!

  • Re: AUCTION VENDING MACHINES ARE NOW OPERATIONAL

    @Deweller what is the purpose of having 1000 LTBc go from the seller to the buyer? That seems bizarre, though I assume I'm missing some purpose. But if that's the way it works, guess we should tell bidders they get 1k LTBc refunded back to them, if they win the auction.

  • Re: AUCTION VENDING MACHINES ARE NOW OPERATIONAL

    @bcohen @deweller "key component of proxy bidding is secrecy. Because all blockchain transactions are public, that secrecy is lost when bidding Counterparty tokens."

    yikes. I wonder if there is some way of mixing/scrambling and or splitting the bids so that the bid can't be figured out?

    What if you send your LTBc to Melotic (or buy LTBc there), then send it back to a fresh address on your Counterwallet? You could send different quantities to and from, if you're very worried about people tracking the transactions, at staggered times.

    Thanks Deweller for getting us up to speed on the details. Very helpful to understand how the bidding works, the delay (I had no clue), etc. Can you weigh in on the BTC that's also spent by the seller when setting up an auction? I think it would be great for transparency to understand where that goes (no hard feelings if some of it helps to pay for the work done to make these auctions happen).

    (if you wonder why i edit my posts, it's due to lots of typos, etc.)

    @bcohen - I totally understand that you want ebay-style bidding, and that's certainly easier than having manually bid and rebid and rebid.

    But I also think, if that isn't what is being done now (perhaps for technical reasons, perhaps for other reasons), having to pay the full amount of each bid (rather than adding the amount to increase the bid) is pretty much impossible for many. A couple of bid raises (each requiring a full bid amount) and you're out of LTBc. Meanwhile, the guy who just bids once at the end isn't depleted of LTBc, since he didn't bid several times during the auction. That's why I hope at least the bids are placed incrementally. Users desperately need to be informed how it works currently!

    @faceface - I hear what you're saying. I agree that Adam reversed directions on how he was handling the hour consultations a couple of times, and that was very confusing for me too. And I understand what a waste of time the token was in your case, and why it just added to the hassle of the process.

    However, this is all a big experiment, and the auction for his time was part of this experiment, which you participated in. All in all, I'd say you lucked out, since you received an hour of Adam's time at a price way way way below what it should have been (as has everyone who has won these auctions -- including me!). We got this bargain for an hour of Adam's time only because of this experiment. Sure, we have to go through a few extra steps with the token, and that wasn't as efficient as it could have been. But that seems like a relatively small price to pay. Hopefully you can see it from this perspective.

    And note that I thought a token representing a keychain was kind of silly, but I still wanted to try auctioning a keychain token. But then I thought a bit more about it. What if they buyer wanted to tip someone with a Bitcoin keychain? Now they could just send the token to anyone's address on the forum, to send a neat gift. The recipient could claim it and get a physical keychain, or they could send it to someone else. Sure, it will be a bit more hassle to claim, but I think the experiments we're participating in outweigh a few minutes of inconvenience.

  • Re: CAPTcoin,A New Way To Earn BTC!!!

    @kerneloops Why?

    All I can guess is it helps bots pretend to be humans… Maybe it will help someone create an army of fake users on this forum? I have a hard time seeing a positive use for this.

  • Re: 400+ Million Burned already. Dogeparty!

    I'm way behind on this! Can someone point me to a URL that explains the Dogeparty reward for participating in the burn (I assume that's the motivation), using the Dogeparty wallet?

    EDIT: Wait, with a bit more looking around, seem the funding goal has already been met. And am I correct that the burned Doge was donated simply to support the cause, w/o any reward tied to the donations?

  • Re: AUCTION VENDING MACHINES ARE NOW OPERATIONAL

    @deweller
    @jamesmm asked an extremely important question, that I'll reword based on my own lack of understanding how this works (after placing several bids and starting my own auction):

    Let's say I bid 10,000, and I am later outbid, and my next bid needs to be 12,000 to regain the lead, do I send 2,000 more to bid 12,000, or do I have to send 12,000 (which I may not have, since I just sent 10K to lock in my initial bid)? I didn't think about how important Jamesmm's question was, until I started getting hands-on with this. I'm hoping the answer is I'd need to send 2K more to up my bid to 12K, as it makes the most sense to me. Problem is, I don't think it's intuitive, and needs to be explained in detail to bidders. And I'd volunteer to write up instructions for bidders and sellers, if I feel I'm totally understand what's going on.

    I also can't help but wonder if the extremely high bids on the most recent LTB show ad auction were due to the bidders bidding 10,000, then 12,000 as a higher bid, not understanding they needed to bid just 2K on the second bid. @bcohen, is this what you meant, or is this a different theory than yours (on why the bids got so high)?

  • Re: New Article : Bitcoin Suspected to Be NSA or CIA Project

    I had always thought it a possibility, w/o any external suggestion. Though, I like the idea of aliens too. Or maybe a Skynet robot from the future came back as Satoshi (and even made the code look sloppy, to throw everyone off track). Skynet did this, because blockchain tech, followed by autonomous entities running on various blockchains, is what will bring about the the rule of robot overlords.

    Nothing I have read has made me lean towards the CIA/NSA theory over the others.

  • Re: Dogeparty!

    Ahhh, I see it all on http://www.dogeparty.io. And I was almost shocked, as it took me a few seconds to find Adam's photo on the page (I couldn't believe he wasn't integrally involved).

  • Re: [NEW SHOW FORMING - APPLICANTS NEEDED] Thinking with Tokens!

    I'm slightly concerned that all these great new time-intensive LTB projects are happening, yet some more basic things may be slipping through the cracks. I still see no auction anywhere for the next round of display ads for the home page (and I have a design client who who is asking me how to buy an ad -- I have to tell them I don't know at the moment). @Adam, do you need to delegate more? I'm unsure why there is neither a manual nor Auctioneer auction running right now. Just takes one second to ask someone to continue to run a manual auction, if you don't have time to deal with another Auctioneer auction. Worry the basics should all be covered before stretching to the next goal.
