  • Re: LTBc games

My guess is that the legal issues will prevent LTB from ever hosting games of chance here. Every developer I've talked to who was trying to set up a Bitcoin gaming site would only do so outside the U.S.

  • Re: I feel like LTBc is ruining the the forums completely...

@Cryptonaut For comments on articles, I see Up Vote, Down Vote, Reply Share and now see the Flag on the right. So I was talking about the Down Vote. And I assume they are all part of Disqus.

Normally, I would only flag something that is clearly inappropriate, spam, etc. Would you like things like "nice…." to be flagged, if they add little? Since there's no up vote an article itself (that I'm aware of), I sometimes think a quick compliment is the only way to easily give a tip of the hat to an author. Is the focus of this discussion more the forum, then article comments? Comments on both count for LTBc, right?

  • Re: I feel like LTBc is ruining the the forums completely...

I've been stumped lately trying to figure out if some posts are purely for LTBc points, or if they are just short posts by non-English speakers (especially in comments to articles). I think some type of refined rating system of comments in the forum, and on the articles, would be helpful. Perhaps it can slowly evolve with algorithms that look for gaming of the system, and flag those instances to mods. It seems that's what y'all are working on, so hopefully what you implement will improve the user experience!

Oh, I realize there's a down vote on the articles now, but I"m apprehensive to use it, as I'm unsure if the commenter is notified I've down voted them, and may decide they want vengeance.

  • Re: Do you have a Circle wallet?

Circle is now open to the public! If you want to see what it feels like to buy Bitcoin with a credit card (which many said could never happen), give it a go… while the price of BTC is still low!

  • Re: Counterparty servers down. Wallet alternatives?

I also heard someone behind the Hive wallet wanted to build a wallet that could handle Counterparty assets. I assume there will eventually be other good options, but it might take some time.

What type of problems are you having with Counterwallet? Are you using Chrome as your browser when you used Counterwallet?

  • Re: [Official] The 100,000 LTBcoin Logo Design Contest

Love seeing all the new logos! Would be fun at contest end to see them all in one gallery.

  • Re: Xapo Bitcoin debit card review

The concept of paying anywhere that accepts a payment cards sounds great! And this is a great promotional fluff video (in my opinion), showing people doing all these fun things using this card (could have been a VISA video, for that matter). But unless you have tons of Bitcoin, or have a job that pays in BTC, is there a benefit to using this card?

With fees, trust in Xapo required (their honesty, business model, and resilience against technical and socially engineered hacks), and the transactions still must go through the legacy payment system (rather than the Blockchain), it seems like it throws out most of the advantages that Bitcoin brings to the table.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Xapo giving this a try, and perhaps there are enough people who need the service to make it successful. But I'm missing why it would make sense for me to use this card. I'm more interested in using Bitcoin to buy from companies that actually accept Bitcoin.

Am I missing the something? I'm interested to hear if you have another viewpoint.

  • Using LTB Auctioneer to give a new token value?

I believe all the LTB Auctioneer auctions to date have been set up with the bidding token as LTBc, though you can set up an auction to accept any Counterparty token. This gives some interesting possibilities. For example, what if you create a new token that is distributed after a series of auctions have been created with staggered ending dates. And say each auction has a winning LTBc value that increases from the previous. I would say the brand new token would have inherent value (similar to the way LTBc has value, in part, due to being able to cash LTBc in for LTBn sponsorship tokens).

One could tweak parameters (in the coin and the auction) to try experiment with the economics, and there are all types of ways one could distribute the newly created coin (that's a topic as to itself). Lots of opportunities to experiment/play, thanks to Counterparty and the LTB Auctioneer! I plan to let it percolate, but hope to try something in this direction.

    Thoughts?

  • LTB Auctioneer now just for Sponsorships?

    @deweller @Cryptonaut @Adam

There used to be an always-visible AUCTIONS link to the LTB Auctioneer page. Now the easiest way to get there is to click on SPONSOR and drop down to AUCTIONS. The change implies to me that the LTB Auctioneer is to be used for LTBn sponsorships, and not so much as a general use auction platform.

If this was an intended change of focus for the auctions, then I understand this change. But if you intend to keep the auctions page for people to set up auctions for whatever (token) they want, I think you should find a way to have a direct link to the auctions. It would encourage potential sellers to create auction,s as well encourage LTBc holders to look and see if there's anything they may want to spend their LTBc on.
