@Cryptonaut For comments on articles, I see Up Vote, Down Vote, Reply Share and now see the Flag on the right. So I was talking about the Down Vote. And I assume they are all part of Disqus.

Normally, I would only flag something that is clearly inappropriate, spam, etc. Would you like things like "nice…." to be flagged, if they add little? Since there's no up vote an article itself (that I'm aware of), I sometimes think a quick compliment is the only way to easily give a tip of the hat to an author. Is the focus of this discussion more the forum, then article comments? Comments on both count for LTBc, right?

ohhh I see, you are talking about the blog articles and not the forums :p Yeah, it shows who upvoted, but it does not show who downvoted (for basically the reasons you mentioned). Downvote away!

Maybe the introduction of a minimum number of ltbcoin's is required before you can comment and make it substantial. If you need 10,000 coins then you will need to find magic words and read articles or buy some coins before participating in the comments. Having a closed forum for those with 100,000 plus would also get rid of 99% of spam.

I think the closed communities will be a big improvement for this issue. I don't really agree that you should need a minimum ltbc unless it was a really low number such as 1,000 which might defeat the purpose.

@wildjo I'd like to see some of the other strategies I've heard about on previous posts, like "must have x LTBc" to post. Not going to solve the problem alone, but helps. I suspect a lot of the spammers simply dump the LTBc on the market on the weekends. Making them hold a little will help the value and, perhaps, reduce the number of spammers who don't want to hold.

I think something in this direction is needed. The first coins could only be earned through magic words and unique page views and after that a minimum amount is required to post.

There are some good ideas here, I had one too so I thought i'd add my 2 LTBc :) maybe removing the ability of any given account to make additional posts if they are reported by someone with a certain amount of LTBc or a certain sum of LTBc based off multiple reports until reviewed by a mod. The people who hold a reasonable amount of LTBc care more about the network and the content and have more incentive to check and report spam.

Yeah, sounds a lot like proof of stake. Just might work.

I think this is a novel idea.

Its OK, just flag it and mods like me will take care of it. We are fighting against spam on these forums, and we are not done yet!

I agree, could also make someone with, for example 100,000+LTBc, essentially have some mod powers, where their downvotes and flags hold more weight than normal posters
