@mdw It's different. It might even offer anonymity that is truly reliable. If so, it'll be the only one.

I assumed you wanted to learn about them, just like @Alchemix assumed you were interested in investing in them. What is your interest anyway?

You are correct about my interest. I appreciate your dumbing it down for me. Not technologically savvy. But, the summary was understandable. Thanks.

Unfortunately the math for zerocoin is tough, and I don't understand it. Maybe @therealtwig can explain it better, he's good at that. I do understand what's wrong with other schemes though. For example Coinjoin variants, unlike zero-knowledge proofs, will always be susceptible to Sybil attacks. Even if you use a fancy network of trusted master nodes and make it really, really hard.

Ring signatures is the other scheme people seem to like. But it seems to me like the old game with 3 cups and the ball is under one of them. Maybe you can't prove I did something, but how anonymous can you be among a crowd of 3?

  • Re: New users limitations

Good idea. Short posts too obviously. In fact you can go ahead and flag anything even vaguely suspicious if the result is only to notify a moderator.

Zerocoin, which has the potential for serious anonymity according to those who can follow the math (not me) This is not some glorified shell game like coinjoin & friends, but one with a sound basis in math.

It was formerly known as zerocash. These days the zero knowledge proofs data that gets inserted into the blockchain is getting nice and small, like ~400 bytes. That's still too big for OP_RETURN (40 bytes) for things like counterparty. But it's perfect for something like Namecoin to implement because it allows up to 1k of arbitrary data.

  • Re: FEATURE REQUEST - Reverse Post Listings

If the upcoming search function has an "advanced search" that allows you to choose which group(s) to search, and if we can use a "save this search query" choice, that'd do the trick. I'm sure other folks would do the same.

As an aside, you can probably look through the tokenly code and see what's in store for search.

  • Re: Should blatant copy/paste article threads be flagged as spam?

Clearly there's less value from a post with only a link. Even one quick comment describing it or offering an opinion makes it more valuable. It gives additional info and might be more likely to start a discussion.

Should it be allowed? I think the mods should have some authority to decide based on user behavior, as @page suggests. Imagine an active member of the community just found a link she thought everyone would be interested in and it started a conversation.

This thread should be labelled "LTB Sybil Attack"

  • Re: We need your vote

Request sent to cryptsy - but it'll take more to get it listed on the vote page.
