Re: Retroshare - Would a p2p communication help on trades?
@crimsonroze Web of trust is also implemented in Debian, I agree it is not user friendly and managing the certificates is not straight forward.
Also Gnupgp is based on RSA but Bitcoin uses ECDSA which is more secure to quantum cryptography and more user friendly.

Re: Stellar - New Crypto by Stripe
I totally agree I also tested the waters.
It is a proper scam, they are tracking you and all your friend's profile.
It is a profanity and an abomination to the principles and ideologies of Satoshi and the whole Bitcoin eco system.
It is because they think if you throw peanuts monkeys will dance.
I could be wrong, but I don't really think they give a damn about you and your friends. All they want is to make sure that they aren't handing millions of stellars over to a script kiddie that can generate thousands of new facebook accounts and thousands of fake friends in minutes. They want their distribution to be fair and spread across a very significant portion of people all around the world.
Facebook is currently the best way to verify the most amount of people. No other network has as many legitimate users as facebook does, so it makes a little bit of sense to verify legitimacy this way. Do I think that it should be the only way? Absolutely not. I'm confident they think that also and will be adding more verification methods rather soon.
@toplel seems unnecessary, just another btc clone, we have btc for everything
Stellar and Ripple are actually vastly different that bitcoin right down to the very consensus method used. In fact, they are currently much more centralized, which is why people refer to them more as distributed networks currently than decentralized ones. Both networks are also far more viable for frequent microtransactions than bitcoin is in its current state. Both networks are also consume far less resources to sustain than btc.
So no, I will not agree that it is just another btc clone. There are many, but these two networks are legitimately new concepts. That's not to say they're the answer for anything, or that they are even good. Merely that they are pretty significantly different and worth examining.

Couldn't agree more. Oh and wait i have to signup to get them so ama keep away.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm also sorry that you had to sign up the LetsTalkBitcoin in order to receive "free" LTBc. I'm also sorry that you had to download software and register your wallet and expose it to the internet in order to obtain and hold bitcoin. Just sayin' :P
@mike I want to clarify 3 points.
1.Throughout last 5000 years of history centralized monetary system have failed, is failing, will fail in future. My understanding is that it will not liberate humanity but only keep them as slaves.
2.I will not agree facebook is the only way to identify legitimate users, they are many other ways for example you can track legitimate user by the ip address.
3.If ltbcoin or any other coin for that matter would have asked for facebook account or google account as mandatory requirement, I would not have signed for it.

Re: Will you ever have more subforums to get more people posting here?
@page I like posting to reddit more than posting here, mainly because I am becoming tired of thinking about cryptos and like some other subjects more atm. I would rather there were more subs here I could post to. Something like an anarchist sub, or it can just be a sub about decentralisation, that is something all anarchist flavours like and could get some posting here from reddit. I would like that! I'm sure they would too if they knew it could make them some money.
Yes!
and like Reddit, you'll be able to post links to elsewhere and discuss them in the comments here, you'll be able to upvote and downvote to curate, etc. The redesign is underway now, this is just the launch design so we had something to test the mechanics and start building the community.
@adam If you are modelling after reddit please make sure bots and moderators does not filters keywords and censor the contents like reddit.
It's my thesis we'll have better curation and moderation because people are spending a limited resource (LTBc) to do the curation as opposed to just upvoting headlines because it has no cost.
I agree with your thesis because it is an Assurance Contract. But it will work much better if you manage to implement your thesis based on Dominant Assurance Contract.

Re: Questions/Topics for todays session (Andreas/JeffreyTucker/Adam)
1.What are the other feasible alternatives to current patent system?
Data required for rational economic planning are distributed among individual actors and thus exist unavoidably outside the knowledge of a central authority.
2.If the knowledge problem is true how is that pyramid architecture and command and control has not become obsolete in the last 10000 years.

Re: Stellar - New Crypto by Stripe
@page I signed up, but I don't have a FB account. Is it quick to set up a FB account? Do they ask for things like a telephone number?
"Our spam detection checks say your Facebook account isn't eligible. If you are a legitimate user, we apologize and are improving our detection algorithms. And we will release new ways to grab stellars soon, so please check back."
what a waste of time!
@muravei-09 I've signed up but no coins so far. And those links with my Facebook account keep showing some weird popup window that I can't read.
The facebook account must have some friends , and should not be new .
