  • Re: Which altcoins do you think will be thriving in 5 years and why?

Of those that exist right now, my bets are on NXT and DRK.

NXT is sufficiently different from all other altcoins to make it unique. DRK's privacy enhancing functions make it useful above and beyond BTC... as long as those functions aren't incorporated into BTC itself.

Basically, anything that isn't just a BTC clone with a few parameters tweaked and (maybe) a different crypto algorithm has a shot at surviving. Of those, NXT and DRK are the ones that have made themselves known. If there are others, they seem to be keeping quiet, which isn't good for adoption.

  • Re: Jeffrey Tucker on Episode 134

At the risk of sounding like a raving fanboy, the fact that Andreas and Jeffrey Tucker were together on the same show made this the best episode yet. I wish it could have gone on longer; I could easily have listened to two hours of that and then come back for a part two.

The discussion of whether Bitcoin is "neutral" was a real eye-opener. Basically Andreas was saying that we're used to a playing field that is skewed a certain way. When we finally see one that is flat, IT is the one that looks skewed.

Another good example are those vision-distorting glasses that are sometimes used to simulate being drunk (or to make everything look upside down, etc.) After you wear them for a while, your brain adjusts and you can operate almost normally despite the twisted, unreal view of the world. When you take them off, the world looks distorted again until you brain re-adjusts. We've been experiencing a distorted financial system for so long that a non- (or less-) distorted one looks completely alien.

  • Re: Magic Word now has to be entered in 1-2 days?

I definitely heard the 6th. Unlike the person above, when I entered the code on the 6th it did not say "expired".

  • Re: Why the price of LTBcoins is going down and down ?

@hesham3del What to do to prevent this from happening again?

    Invest

By "invest" I mean invest something other than money. The value of LTBc depends on the value of the community. In order for the community (and therefor LTBc) to prosper, people have to invest in it. Someone has to invest their time, talent and energy in creating content. Someone has to invest the time to consume said content, and invest further time participating in discussions about it. Someone has to invest time and energy in spreading awareness of the community so that it grows. Someone has to.... you get the picture.

I'm not saying that someone should be YOU, but since you're concerned enough about the value to post about it, I would assume you're concerned enough to do more than that. Or maybe you're just a speculator. There's nothing wrong with being a speculator, but if you're trying to passively ride to the moon on a free rocket that is built, piloted, and maintained by other people then complaining about the bumpiness of the ride is bad form. You're free to do so, of course, but it'll make the ride less enjoyable.

  • Re: Does LTBcoin require fiat to survive?

I intend to use my LTBc to buy advertising for my webcomic. For this purpose, a fiat value is unnecessary. Even if I wanted to check my return on investment, my webomic only accepts BTC donations so I'd do those calculations in terms of BTC, as in: "a 15,000 LTBc advertising spot resulted in X BTC donated on my website, Yay!"

That being said, I'm not saying that LTBc having a fiat value isn't useful. The fact that it can be exchanged for filthy fiat will undoubtedly bring in people interested in doing just that. Interest from traders and speculators might just grow the network, making LTBc more valuable when used for advertising.

  • Re: What's your favorite Wallet?

For storage, I use paper wallets. For petty cash, I use Mycelium

For that weird zone between "I need it right now" and "I hope to never spend this", I use the Bitcoin Core client.

Mycelium is awesome and is the wallet I recommend to people. Even if they don't have Android, I still recommend it because, damn... if you use Bitcoin then it's worth changing phones for.

  • Re: What are you currently mining?

I'll preface this by saying I'm mining for curiosity and fun rather than profitability.

I'm mining SHA256 coins on multipool.us. The coin that I'm currently mining at any given moment is based on profitability, but so far the vast majority of it has been BTC, with occasional forays into MZC, FRC, and PPC. Besides PPC, I don't even know what those other coins are!

It's been a quite fun and I've learned a lot, so, mission accomplished. It's been so much fun that I have to remind myself that I'm actually mining at a loss so I don't run out and buy more hardware. :(

  • Re: Render(er) for hire!

I don't have a set rate; I was going to negotiate on a case-by-case basis if somebody wanted an illustration for an article here on the site.

Most of what I do is character-based because that's what my comic requires. I could do more abstract things like logos, etc. but that really isn't my focus. I don't have any examples of those kinds of things to show.

  • Render(er) for hire!

I can make simple 3D-rendered images that you can use for your article or whatever. I'm not a professional-level 3D artist, but I can put a scene together to fit whatever your subject might be.

    Samples? Well, I have a webcomic: http://activelydisengaged.com.

Some of my characters might even be available to represent your article! Or maybe I can make a custom comic just for you!

  • Re: What skills do you have? What type of team are you looking for?

@CrimsonRoze Wow! You really put forth some effort into tracking down that issue; thank you SO MUCH for doing that!

I think I just sent you 2,000 LTB. I hope I did, anyway.
