Good discussions. I think it ended kind of abruptly, almost a bit weird?!

what we don't know is infallibility is fallible and Intellect is not the property of the select.

There are two items that really stuck out to me.

One was the Wright brothers spending their lives fighting intellectual right patent battles and as a result indirectly stunting the innovation level in flight of the county far back of what others were able to do with permissionless innovation on top of what they were able to accomplish.

I also really thought Andreas had a wonderful discussion about how something so amazingly neutral can be seen as a revolution just because it is introduced into a context of deceit and bias. His example of Galileo effectively bringing down empires just by putting two pieces of glass on the end of a tube and making simple observations of truth was pretty cool and thought provoking.

    Great episode!

Telescope: nice example from Andreas of a technology that's clearly neutral, but was disruptive and revolutionary in its context.

Separately, what's the advantage/s of having 2 places to post comments between here and http://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/lets-talk-bitcoin-134-disruptive-leaps ?

It leads to fragmentation, and is the advantage/s worth fragmenting the discussion?

When Jefferey Tucker was musing about whether bitcoin is politically neutral...

"I love the idea that it is both because I think that technology itself is most certainly neutral. It's a technology that can be used for a variety of purposes, but at its core it encompasses certain principals. Principles of transparency, principles of openness, peer to peer use that is decentralized and egalitarian and here is the trick. A neutral tech is not neutral if you put it in a world that is horrifically biased and skewed or as George Orwell said "In a time of universal deceit telling truth is revolutionary act". So in a time of universal financial deceit a transparent, open, egalitarian financial network IS a revolutionary technology. It is political not because it is inherently political, but because it is put in a context of deceit. The act of creating equal access finance with transparency, in our world, that is revolutionary." - Andreas M. Antonopoulos

Jefferey Tucker suggested that someone transcribe this brilliance so here ya'll go! Can someone make an Andreas coin that you mine by downloading the mind of Andreas into your brain? Maybe it rewards you with bitbraincells when you hear the man speak? I swear the mans mouth spills information gold.

It did end abruptly. We were supposed to have 2 hours with Jeffrey but we wound up only having about 40 minutes. After I said the final note (that we ended the show on) Jeffrey broke in and said he had to get across town for an interview and appologized profusely.

I'm amazed by Tuckers "talking skils". He is very good at adding to the discussion. Very good.

I liked Adam's point that perhaps there is a benefit to IP "ownership". The fact that it is an artificial construct, that it is becoming harder to enforce, and that it has become horribly abused does not mean that there is no benefit.

At the risk of sounding like a raving fanboy, the fact that Andreas and Jeffrey Tucker were together on the same show made this the best episode yet. I wish it could have gone on longer; I could easily have listened to two hours of that and then come back for a part two.

The discussion of whether Bitcoin is "neutral" was a real eye-opener. Basically Andreas was saying that we're used to a playing field that is skewed a certain way. When we finally see one that is flat, IT is the one that looks skewed.

Another good example are those vision-distorting glasses that are sometimes used to simulate being drunk (or to make everything look upside down, etc.) After you wear them for a while, your brain adjusts and you can operate almost normally despite the twisted, unreal view of the world. When you take them off, the world looks distorted again until you brain re-adjusts. We've been experiencing a distorted financial system for so long that a non- (or less-) distorted one looks completely alien.
