  • Re: Record my article(s) as audio.

sounds like the weekly roundup should perhaps be a podcast :)

  • Re: Would You Pay for Early Access? What about all articles-as-audio for commuters?

@spengler I like the idea of having all of the site's content made available in audio format. For people such as commuters it will save a great deal of time (you can't read while you drive). Personally this opportunity for efficiency with my use of time would be much more valuable to me than getting the podcast early.

That's what I feel as well. Except I don't drive and don't need it for myself - I just want to make things more accessible.

  • Record my article(s) as audio.

I was reading a post by @adam about paying for early access and in the end he briefly mentions the idea of making audio sections of written articles to help make it more accessible to commuters.

so lets play around with the idea: I want someone to take my article(s) and make them accessible in as engaging way they could possibly be - I don't mind if you go offscript and throw in your own reflects or such.

I'm even open to someone just recording a discussion about the material and see if that has value as well, should someone want to.

Would anyone here be willing to work with me on this, as a test and see how it pans out? How much LTBc would you ask for to do this?

Let me know in the comments!

  • Re: Donate BTC to support the LTBCOIN Distribution Fees!

Since I got my article published and that will get me more LTBc than I have a need for I recently cashed out some into BTC. I'm thankful for the value that was mostly just given to me and remembering that there was a significant cost associated with the distribution I've decided to help out. Here's the donation.

Thanks for the good work so far, I expect to stick around and see where this all leads.

  • Re: General Bitcoin adoption, I think we're missing a big piece of the puzzle...

I personally spend about half of all the bitcoins I get, and when I run out I just go and buy some more. Never again will I enter those pesky credit card numbers unless I really have to!

    @TheWittyHawk ping!

  • [FUNDRAISER] Educational Video: Family Economics.

It was suggested in a user comment on my article about family economics that we should make a fundraiser towards the creation of an educational video explaining how bitcoin and multisignature technology could empower family economics for both young and old.

Creating a good illustrated video takes time, and alot of effort. I'm well aware that it's a rather big project so instead of offering a fixed amount of LTBc and hope someone is willing to do it for as few as I can afford I decided to set up a fundraiser, where other members of the letstalk bitcoin can pledge to help create this much needed and wonderful piece of art.

I'll start: I'll donate at least 10% of the LTBc generated by the article to this cause.

If you can pledge some, that would be great. If you can't but like the idea, then tell others and give this thread comments to it gets more attention in the recent post section.

If you want to make the video, please comment here as well and we'll work it out.

    Cheers, Jonathan Silverblood

    Current pledges:

    Total of: ~ 22,700 LTBc + 20 mBTC

  • Re: Help me pick an android phone: 1,000 ~ 10,000 LTBc

@kerneloops And, what's your take an Jolla?

their other half concept has promise that they've continously failed to deliver on. Give me an other half with keyboard and another other half with extra battery and a solar charger and I'll consider it. The N9 operating system lived up to my high expectations and surpassed even the N9, but the lack of keyboard changed my habits, I stopped chatting for example.

The sailfish design is a bit too much out there but.. proper other halves, a terminal, ability to run mycelium through their android support layer and.. well.. heck, why not. I'd take one I guess.

  • Re: Help me pick an android phone: 1,000 ~ 10,000 LTBc

@kerneloops But, they are tools, so I guess they don't have to be exciting...

That's the main issue here. To me, the phone is without a shed of doubt no more than a tool. I need my tool working and doing what I tell it to.

The N900 excelled in this, I could tell it practically anything and it obeyed to the best of it's ability. If it weren't for the fact that I've gotten to love the Mycelium bitcoin wallet for android I would've looked for an old N900 and simply gone back to it. After all, it worked. Sadly, the community behind it died out about as fast as the poorly concieved USB connector failed and the devices stopped charging.

I've looked long and good at the Neo N900 but it seems like they won't be able to get the job done, and definately not in time for me to get my new phone considering I'm currently on a temporary phone since the Samsung finally offed itself and let me move on with my life.

Considering my use case I've also looked into getting a smartwatch and just skip the phone but that turned out to be an overly expensive venture. Maybe I'll look again in 5-10 years.

I've used a Samsung S4 for half a year or so now and it's been a frustrating experience since I've been going from the best phone ever to the successor of the best phone ever (a downgrade in my opinon) then over to what the mainstream consider a "flagship" phone. To me, that phone is, sadly, utter crap.

5 inch screen is to me uncomfortably big, even though I have rather big hands. I have a tablet to accompany my phone and use it for gaming and video - my phone is mainly used to pay for stuff with bitcoin, listen to podcasts and share internet to the tablet.

I'd love to do treasure hunts with GPS and coinding/geocaching but every single phone I've ever had just runs out of juice halfway through.
