It was suggested in a user comment on my article about family economics that we should make a fundraiser towards the creation of an educational video explaining how bitcoin and multisignature technology could empower family economics for both young and old.

Creating a good illustrated video takes time, and alot of effort. I'm well aware that it's a rather big project so instead of offering a fixed amount of LTBc and hope someone is willing to do it for as few as I can afford I decided to set up a fundraiser, where other members of the letstalk bitcoin can pledge to help create this much needed and wonderful piece of art.

I'll start: I'll donate at least 10% of the LTBc generated by the article to this cause.

If you can pledge some, that would be great. If you can't but like the idea, then tell others and give this thread comments to it gets more attention in the recent post section.

If you want to make the video, please comment here as well and we'll work it out.

Cheers, Jonathan Silverblood

Current pledges:

Total of: ~ 22,700 LTBc + 20 mBTC

Update: we now have a slideshow!

@CrimsonRoze Are you familiar with storyboarding? If you can storyboard your ideas (comic book style) then we can work on filling in and filling out each panel. Then get the last step, the videoing done because we will know the extent and requirements of the video.

I'll donate some once the next distribution is done.

I don't know the amount that I will get but I'll do 10% of that.

@CrimsonRoze Very nice! I really hope this takes off. I can post again here once Sunday rolls around and let you know my offering. Time now to spread the word!

I've never tried that but I assume it'd go something like this:

    • Short introduction of characters (Mom, Dad, Grandpa and litle John).
    • One practical example of each case as described in the article.
    • End with a call to engagement asking people to share the idea.

If someone knows how storyboarding and/or comics work, let use know and we'll work this one out, shall we?

@CrimsonRoze :-) Let me do a story board for you. I am really swamped but this to me is important. Give me a little time to clear my schedule and we can have some fun!

    I propose the following "cast":

    Role - Name - Age

    • "The Mom" - Alice - 29
    • "The Dad" - Bob - 30
    • "The Elder" - Charlie - 72
    • "The Child" - David - 5

The video could portrait real family decisions taking place over the course of 13 or so years, thus aging the characters along with the examples.

This allows us to showcase most of the examples in the article and new set of examples relating to the elderly as they go from being actively engaged in the family to being put in elder care.

    Example of family decisions:

    • Weekly Allowance for the child
    • Buying the first bicycle (2/3, kid choses, kid pays and parents approve of payment)
    • Managing savings for education (1+1/2, parents give up ownership but remain control over how money is spent)
    • Family vacation (3/3, entire family has to agree)
    • Grocery shopping (1/2 for the parents, 1/3 for the child. All money comes from the food budget)
    • Buying a swimming pool (2/2, both parents need to come to an agreement)

Can anyone help out with examples for family decisions regarding the elderly that could benefit form multisignature key management?

    1) I am pledging 20 mBTC (sorry, but I don't want to spend so much LTBcoins, I don't find the time right now to go on the exchange and buy them)

    2) Frank, do you want to do the story (written) or the story board (comic) ? I am asking because I might know someone who is talented and could maybe do the story board (but I would need to ask her first)
