  • Re: Which ear should I listen with?

    @bittburger

    @spengler Thank you both for your input. It's certainly convenient for me that shows are put out in mono.I'll try using my left ear for a bit to see if it makes any discernible difference from using my usual right ear.

    Have a look into Radiolab Podcast - Episode titled 9 Volt Nirvana as well. Make yourself listen to the end. Its utterly fascinating ...

    I've now listened to the whole thing and it was fascinating. Trans-cranial direct current stimulation seemingly can increase performance and better one's sense of well-being! The procedure/process is very crude, and the episode mentioned someone going (temporarily?) blind! It's obviously highly risky and experimental at this stage. I was imagining trying it myself, and as the New Scientist editor mentioned, it could become addictive. I think with refinement and research this could lead to some profound outcomes!

    Thanks - I'm listening to it now. I've not previously heard of "trans-cranial direct current stimulation". I'm expecting it to be, as you say, fascinating!

    @rob In contrast to Adam's show, my show is stereo. But I try to keep the mix centered enough so you can listen with either ear.

    I've tried mixing down to mono, expecting to get a smaller file size, and I did not. Perhaps I didn't do something right.

    Hi Rob. I've been enjoying your show listening with my bluetooth earpiece, and hadn't noticed any problems.

    BTW this thread is 11 months old now - I'm feeling nostalgic!

  • Re: NXTTY mobile app... I like it.

    @kenobius Nxtty: App-to-App Encryption https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nxtty.main

    Nxtty User Rewards Program: You will receive 2500 Nxttycoin if you are one of the 1st 100,000 user who download the app from the Google Playstore.

    I installed it a few days ago. A message popped up saying something like, "Would you like to redeem your 2500 Nxttycoin reward?". I selected 'yes', but nothing appeared to happen. I don't know whether they just haven't shown up in the wallet, or maybe I'm not in the first 100,000?

    Has anyone managed to receive them? Where do they show up? In the wallet?

  • Re: Auto-Like

    Yeah, as @JayeK said, it doesn't count in the distribution calculations. It was confirmed by @Cryptonaut here. I can't think of a reason for allowing self-liking, so perhaps the ability to do so should be removed? Maybe it'd be a pain to implement, or it's low on the list of priorities. Cryptonaut (and others?) have been doing a fantastic job on sculpting letstalkbitcoin.

  • Re: Who likes Nirvana ?

    @jamesmm The question should be, 'Who Doesn't Like Nirvana?" :)

    It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has listened to Nirvana, but doesn't like the music. There will be people who are unfamiliar with them, but to dislike them is rare in my experience.

  • Re: Proof of Precipitation

    No you fool, it's called proof of precipitation! You're supposed to collect rain in a box, labelled with your username, and post it to Adam. Only then will you receive your LTBcoin.

    There is a topic explaining this somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it at the moment.

    Do we get more LTBc for sleet?

  • Re: My Bitcoing journey blog / Social Documentary Project

    I just had a look at your blog. There are some decent photos there; I wonder if there will be opportunities for you to branch out into Bitcoin related photography.

    You were pondering over the timing of your arrival at the Bitcoin party. I would say you've got here at a perfect time, so you can get a feel for everything just before it all goes crazy!

  • Re: How well do you think bitcoin will do in the next 5yrs?

    Also worth considering - how much will Bitcoin itself have changed?

    Wouldn't it be intriguing to look back on this thread 5 years from now?

    I wonder if @cryptonaut could make this thread jump to the top after 5 years.

  • Re: MAIDSAFE releases Network Visualizer

    They now have the first test network operating; importantly it's "the world’s first operating, autonomous and server less network that enables self authentication". Here's a quote from their blog:

    Onwards and Upwards

    It has been an extremely busy period at MaidSafe and we’re glad to report the long hours and commitment are paying off. As we announced on our forum, the start of the roll out of the SAFE (Secure Access for Everyone) network has now begun. The first of 3 external networks, test network 1, is now up and running and consists of 200 nodes spread across the globe, located in Singapore, San Francisco, Amsterdam and New York.

    This test network is significant as it’s the world’s first operating, autonomous and server less network that enables self authentication. Self authentication is a crucial component enabling, for the first time, users of this network to be in control of their own data, allowing login to the network without the knowledge or involvement of third parties, providing completely private and unilateral access to personal data.

    The second of three planned test networks (prior to beta launch in Q4, 2014) will follow shortly, where we will add messaging functionality and public sharing. During test network 2, developers will also start to run applications on top of the network. Alt-coin wallets, unlimited file storage and sharing applications, a decentralised music store, secure messaging applications and a decentralised currency exchange are all currently under development. Test network 3 will see the implementation of test safecoin, the SAFE network’s digital currency. This creates, for the first time, a viable financial model for a P2P network, providing rewards for network contributions.

    To allow MaidSafe to continue to maintain and increase this momentum, we are also currently expanding our core internal engineering staff. To bolster this effort, MaidSafe continue to aid and support the roll out of international development pods, a group of motivated and technically skilled individuals who wish to contribute to the underlying SAFE network code, as well as build applications on top of the network. Each pod will be rewarded for their contributions in safecoin, enabling the pods to become self sustaining. At present, pods are active in both San Francisco and Montreal with another starting in Washington DC during the autumn.
