What have you bought with bitcoin?

We are often reminded to spend our bitcoin to maintain the economy by users within the system. As an Australian in Melbourne I cannot currently buy from Overstocked or Dell and there are limited retailers who offer the service.

I have tried and been politely declined to pay in bitcoin for 3 pubs and 2 retailers who had the service previously offered on coinmap (mostly because of our local payment processors’ high fees).

So from no lack of trying so far I’ve purchased:

• A month’s subscription of Cryptotrader while the price was at $800 AUD, which I believe I earned back. Although I wouldn’t do it again as I can do without the sleepless nights.
• A couple of Hero Sub sandwiches and beer while they were on offer for half price if paid in bitcoin, while the price was at $500 AUD.
• Alternative cryptocurrencies.

So I was wondering, what have you purchased and how did the volatility affect you?

  I bought a sandwhich from the Bronx Deli.

  That restaraunt has really embraced Bitcoin. They host meetups and Andreas even visited there!

  I also bought a BlackCoin Card, its really just a glorified USB with a preloaded program interface that links to other crypto sites/exchanges.

  

  I don't really count altcoins but I've done my fair share of trading as well.

  mostly electronics from tigerdirect and newegg. I also buy quite a bit of giftcards from Gyft for use at Whole Foods (groceries) and Target, among others

  • Food and Snacks at BarFoxx
  • Raspberry pi and accessories from AdaFruit
  • VPN service from Mullvad
  • Computer parts from Webhallen
  • Paper wallet accessories from BitcoinPaperWallet
  • XCP used to create user-created-assets on CounterParty

  • A beautiful childrens book named Sticks Masterpiece from Brothers Whim

  • (And probably more things that I just can't remember)

  Hopefully I will soon have crossed the language barrier and bought a russian market smartphone for bitcoin (Order on Brawker despite not knowing a single word of russian.
