Often I find myself thinking about why a person chose a particular username, so here is a thread where you can tell your story. Mine is obviously my first name, but I'd love to hear others thoughts.

It's a contraction. My first and last name in one word.

"Soul" comes from a mis-pronunciation of my last name by some guys at a previous workplace. I become known around that office as "the soul man". When multiplayer gaming became a "thing", I adopted that as my gaming handle. FB stands for "FreeBirds" a Falcon 4 Virtual Fighter Squadron I was a member of long ago. We all appended FB on our chat handles so when we flew with other squadrons we knew who was who. I have retained it as a way to get the SoulMan handle on pretty much any chat, message board, or game I wanted to join.

I was looking for a handle that was outdoors related. Looked down at my boots one morning, saw they were pretty dirty from the days hike and Boom!

@kerneloops I love me some (Arch) Linux, but just sometimes it all goes "oops!".
See now that's funny, I thought your handle was Kerne Loops, some kind of music thing or something haha
My name is boring, lol.

I often go by the handle 'TylerDerden', which is a tag I chose due to my early obsession with the novel and movie "Fight Club" and pwning people in Halo 1&2. Freshmen year of college more people knew me by TylerDerden in my dorm than by my real name, so the tag stuck like glue. Kids would often point me out like "that's TylerDerden!"
The 'e' replaces the 'u' in 'Durden' for a reason, to separate the name from the original Durden without changing the sound. Additionally the last two letters of my last name begin with 'de' so I thought it fit well.
