I was thinking that a magic phrase would be more effective than a magic word. You could say parts of the phrase throughout the episode. It would ensure people are actually listening. Just my two cents

Not trying to be a rabble rouser, just having to visit a site cheapens it. Sponsored magic words like big mac would be okay ;)

I have the opposite point of view, first it was different, secondly it got me to check out the site where I learnt a little bit more of the crypto world. Thirdly it is good for LTBcoin, as the website gets more hits, justifying their decision to advertise on the show. That's all fine with me.
Now if I would have, to have actually had to go through with the register process to get my magic word, well then yes, that would be wrong. Just to visit a website for some extra LTBcoins, is a small price to pay.

I didn't mind having to go out of my way to get it. Advertisement makes the bills get paid.

I understand that advertisements get the bills paid, believe me I do (living entirely off crypto and operating a news site at a total loss each month) but even still this just... it just felt wrong.
I guess it is a mileage may vary sort of thing where some people don't mind and others might. It still sort of ruined the experience of a magic word for me and I immediately stopped listening and did not go and grab the magic word.
Edit: This will be the first time I'm not entering a magic word since the feature became live.

So coinfire, you did not enter the magic word? Coooool more coins for me!!!!!!
Ok jokes aside, maybe they could do a further competition called "treasure-hunt" for those willing to go the extra mile. Not saying you wont, but you know what I mean. How about that?

A treasure hunt would be cool. If it was called that and that was the schtick I would do that when I had time ;)

You could you have an extra magic phrase (or treasure hunt as mentioned above) which combines words from all the shows. It would reward listeners who have listened to every show and can crack some code. maybe even one which involves a word from every article.
