Hello,

I thought to begin a [Share with us] serious and to active the (General) sub-forum, so we got to know each other.

I would like to open the [Share with us #1] episode with

How much you earn and how do you make money ?

For me, I make around $50 a day plus my salary which is $300 monthly.

I'm new online monetizer and I'm working with my father in a private company for hotel and general supplies.

What about you ?

When I lived in Ukraine it was a very common question to ask: what is your salary? And people answered all the time.

But in US everybody's like: WTF? What kind of question is it? :)

BTW, I hold 1% of my net worth in Bitcoin and I'm pretty excited about my future earnings from it.

this is very true. in north america for some reason people are scared of saying exactly how much they make or what their wage is. especially if you work in the same place. strange

It's an ego thing that I'm guilty of as well. I have co workers that I have much more experience than and see myself as more valuable (not as a human of course) but I wouldn't disclose the number nor ask it for the simple reason that it will cause rifts in the ranks. Many employers frown upon the disclosure as well as it stems compensation competition and the last thing they want is to pay everyone fairly. The funny thing is when I was in the military, everyone knew exactly what everyone else made as the rates are publically available and not once was it an issue between us. Mainly Im guessing as you had to earn your pay raise instead of begging for it

I think the reason for it is two-fold: 1) in the U.S/Canada, individuals may have much more control in negotiating one's compensation, so you don't want to hear all you had to do was to ask more, and 2) money and earnings carry maybe even a disproportionate meaning, especially in the U.S.

Americans have a strong belief, still, that money = success = happiness, so who wants to advertise that they have not been successful, thus are unhappy?

    This is the truth.

I think a lot of this comes from the fact that in the late 80s companies started discouraging employees with policies in the US from talking about salary or wages as they began paying people doing the same job various salaries.

This was done so people wouldn't share what they made and suddenly find out they were making less than a peer doing the same job.

I actually don't see anything wrong in this. Keeping salaries "fair" costs money and effort. And people will alway bitch anyway about every dollar coworker gets more. Why make an effort in having it "fair"? Unless you have a screaming injustice in wages of your employees, better spend money and effort on improving your product.

Or it's a cultural thing. In Spain is considered very rude to speak about money in most regions of the country. Wich sometimes causes a lot of trouble. :D
