not sure which forum to post this in.. anyway, the trezor is out, it's one of if not the first real hardware wallets that you can buy. does anybody have one? how well does it work?

here's a review, they say it works really well- http://object2212.com/?p=153

Thank you for sharing with us about the Trezor hardware wallet.

But still for me, I prefer to use online ones which can be installed on PC or Smartphone.

I would much rather have a trezor wallet or hardware wallet of some kind. Security is an issue with bitcoin and digital currency. Do you think people would risk putting millions or even just their life savings in bitcoin and hope it doesn't get hacked because their web wallet had a vulnerability? And paper wallets are great, but not for day to day use.

I have got one, it is very simple to use Trezor and definitely safer than using any other more technical way...

Been watching the trezor website, signed up for the mailing list. This just came out really recently. I did not know till reading this thread, it was shipping live. Nice!

    I must have one.

Trezor should not be considered as a secure solution. I can't say really more for now but you've been warned. More in a few days. If you already have one, update it : http://satoshilabs.com/news/2014-08-01-trezor-firmware-1-2-1-released/

Better than nothing. Still not really secure.

Thanks. Can you elaborate on what exactly makes it insecure? Do you work for prismicide? What makes that wallet better?

Please make the Trezor firmware update, I can't say more for now since a responsible disclosure agreement has been made with Trezor team for this first report.

    What I can already say:

Hardware wallets are great ideas... but without any secure elements like smart cards and real secure architecture and coding... broken hardware wallets may just bring the illusion of security... and that's the worse situation you can think about.

Like in other security industries (banking, authentication, signature...), users will probably have to learn this the hard way but...

Nothing new: Secure Elements and secure architectures already exist for good reasons
