Listeners\readers\viewers will benefit most from being challenged. Articles that echo other websites, or race to the bottom to break news don't help people think and sharpen their minds.

In an effort to write profound pieces, there should be a bot or tool to scan keywords in an article and display the free books or articles relevant to that topic. This would encourage the writer to take a lot of perspectives into consideration both old and new.

What methods have you seen to make profound stories and articles?

This is a big reason why Proof-of-Value is in play instead of just proof-of-quality. Quality is an indication of finish and detail while value deals with usefulness, originality, utility. If you just post technically proficient but useless pieces, you'll get an equal share from PoQ and a small or no share of PoV.

Also there is room for curation by senior editorial in allocating Proof of Publishing points, so if a post is only 1000 words but it's really important, it can be classified as "important thought" which is worth 3x as much as a standard 1000 word blog post.

This could also be done with multipliers

Ok. I'm glad you brought this up. Is that 1000 word benchmark the standard for all articles? Should that number be flexible based on the average amount of words readers digest?

You can consult the Proof of Publishing rate sheet - These are non-final and basically guidelines at this point. This is analogous to Hashing Power in Bitcoin mining, with LTB you generate POP. It is calculated and compared to all other teams POP over the same time period, then the weekly distribution amount is split up according to their proportional contribution.

    Accepted Works fall into these categories Written Works: “Blog Post” - >600 Words - .5 POP “Column/Article” - >2000 words - 1 POP Important, New Thought - >5000 Words - 2 POP

Audio Works: “Quick Hit” - >10 minutes, produced (edited if required) 1 POP “Half” - 28-35 minutes, produced (edited if required) 2 POP “Episode” - 50-54 minute, produced (edited if required) - 3 POP

Video Works: “Explainer” - >10 minute produced, edited, visualized video. 2 POP “Hangout” -> 30+ minute automagically produced 2 POP “Full Show” 30-60m Produced, edited, visualized video - 4 POP

Out of curiosity, will participants only be eligible for LTBcoins going forward from Day 1? Would you recommend content creators should hold off from publishing for the time being?

Yes, that's correct. We've been going since April of 2013 without this system, and are publishing more and better content now than ever. Right now you'll be posted and exposed to our audience, your tip address included. By april of this year the new platform will be out for the web and we'll be getting close to the App platform.

I don't believe it is appropriate to allocate coins in advance of being able to create them. I don't want to owe when it's a short time to wait, consider it practice.

What is the scope of the platform? Is it web only or will there be android and iOS apps to consume content?

I think you should have some type of bot that will crawl all content and crosscheck it with search engines for straight up copy/paste plagiarism. Let the user post their content, THEN give them a warning, unless they're quoting someone else. There should be a penalty system in place to prevent abuse of this system.

I like this idea, it moves that part of the process into the Autonomous realm, which i've been having a difficult time doing.  In this case I think it makes a ton of sense
Anybody have ideas of how complex this would be to build?  Would be good to have a version that grabs random sentences and compares them as well as a larger

I think one way it could work would be to crawl the web and look for similar content, and record how close of a match each found page is (within a certian threshold). If it finds another already existing set of content that say is 80% similar to what they are trying to submit, it gives them a warning and/or notifies a admin or moderator for them to look into it further. This could be tricky and not totally reliable though, since a) web crawling and content parsing can be quite complex and b) essentially impossible to be able to check every website for possible duplicate content.
Another idea could be to crowd source it. So for example.. article gets submitted. Kicks around in a "new" section or something for a bit, where it goes through a sort of peer review process. If a user can provide evidence that the article was plagarized from somewhere (or otherwise complete BS), then they can submit their evidence to the administration/moderators who can then look into and confirm the allegations and reward the user with X amount of LTBCoin for their efforts. The process could be streamlined so would basically be just a simple evidence submission form which notifies a mod. Mod checks it out, removes the article if needed and gives the user their reward with a single button click.
