  • Re: Investment strategies with the long term in mind

@pairmike My strategy is to buy a fixed amount of BTC per month. Then as new opportunities arise, I'll invest into new projects. I have a little SWARMPRE, Genercoin, and XCP. I have orders in to buy some Tatianacoin and Niceplum. I'm casting my net wide.

What do some of you think about a potential investment in NXT, Maidsafe, Ethereum, and Mastercoin?

    • Ethereum - excellent idea for a platform, undecided about investment prospects.
    • Maidsafe - unique, excellent project to support for the ideology of it all (if that's your kind of thing). It could be huge, but will that translate into rising value of SAFEcoin?
    • Mastercoin - depends whether they can claw more "business" in. I've a feeling Counterparty is superseding it (?). Pros and cons with riding on bitcoin.
    • NXT - seems quite solid, not sure if it will continue long-term.

I'm an unskilled laborer with little expertise in this area though, so this is just my feeling.

  • Is Master Matt Cryptic?

The JEDI master, is he enigmatic?

    Does he have an agenda?

Does he prefer Star Wars or Fight Club?

He suggested I free my mind, so why am I frantically asking questions?

At which end should we open bananas?

What is the purpose of JEDI?

  • Re: JEDI, How does this song make you feel?

People who are living comfortable lives are aware of realities like those described in the song to various degrees (although many are oblivious). Hardly anything is done about the problems because many of the comfortable people are satisfied with the mirage they create (with the aid their societies and governments), which enables them to disassociate themselves from it all.

There are many comfortable people who are more conscious of the problem. These people who are more aware are obviously dissatisfied. There is a difficulty, however, in knowing what to do about it. This is very frustrating. I'm fairly confident that things will gradually improve over time, because that seems to be the direction in which we've been headed over the centuries.

    Aaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhh!

    Sick

  • Re: JEDI, so is there only one Dojo?

What on Earth is wrong with me?

I've only just noticed the existence of this Dojo!

My apologies, I will now come here (knowingly) more often!

Oh my word. Is this my first night at Dojo? Does that mean I HAVE to fight?

@vincent-vega I think it is like this in crypto-wourld.

BTC - first level, very safe, invest in this and you get a little bit of other cryptos. Coins 2.0 - Counterparty, NXT, Bitchares, Mastercoin, Ethereum. Medium risk. Worth investing, some off thise will be very expensive soon. Crypto Assets or Crypto Equity issued on top of the Coins 2.0. LTBcoin, Swarm, Maidsafe, DomainShares etc. High risk (what will happen to LTBcoin if Counterparty or Bitcoin fall?). Worth buying for maximizing profit.

Others: DOGE, LTC etc... is noise. IMO. Even Namecoin, because Coins 2.0 will make it absolite.

I agree with the gist of your post. Maidsafecoin is only supposed to be held on the Mastercoin protocol until it is redeemed for SafeCoin on the SAFE network, once it is up and running.

This post is about the high cost of distributing LTBcoin over Counterparty because of the Bitcoin fees. Adam hinted at one possible solution, that is to move to DogeCoin. I see on page 5 you suggested using BitShares (good idea). I infer from one of his comments that bytemaster at BitShares has thought along those lines(see here.

I would agree that most of the current altcoins will likely be near worthless in terms of monetary value in the future. A handful of them could find strong niches though (but can anyone know which they'll be?).

  • Re: Life gets in the way of all this cryptoledger stuff!

@shopnhowler Yes, the algorithm is key. Have you heard of TruthCoin? It's only a concept right now, but it's basically a crowd-based liking algorithm. I'm wondering if that's usable for filtering content.

I loved episode 117 - The Truth Matrix. I think TruthCoin is definitely one to keep an eye on!

  • Re: MAIDSAFE releases Network Visualizer

Oooh...thanks Adam. Every time I think about this project...I'm lost for words. For those of you unaware of the SAFE project I urge you to read up on it. If it works as planned there is the possibility of a paradigm shift.

    A DEBATE

There have been loads of good interviews on the podcasts.

Just for the sake of having something different, however, I would like to hear a debate. There are a lot of people with a great deal of knowledge in this space, but opinions and beliefs will always differ.

It would be fascinating to have people with differing views talk over an interesting subject, (perhaps using the socratic method?). We are used to hearing people present information to us, and sometimes alternative perspectives are offered, but a full on debate would be wonderful!

If others would like a debate, perhaps we could together find a suitable subject and some people who fancy debating? This could be incentivized by offering reward structures and by offering audience interactions such as voting (or even betting on the outcome of the consensus).

    Vague ideas:

    • Mining vs POS (e.g. "Delegated Proof of Stake" or "Cooperative Proof of Stake"), with Daniel Larimer or Stephen Reed.
    • 51% attacks, with Andreas M. Antonopoulos vs. someone who disagrees!
    • Bitcoin vs. FIAT.
    • Regulation vs. no regulation.

These may be overly common subjects. I think it would be excellent to find something a bit more obscure, yet still important.

  • Re: Investment strategies with the long term in mind

    @shopnhowler What's your background, Spengler?

Looks like a lot of people want more information and more informed choices. I know, it's really general, but just an observation.

My job is "unskilled" and I would say I'm just muddling my way through life. I find joy when I discover intriguing things.

I'm not sure I understand the second part of your post. Were you hoping for a response on this part from me?
