  • Re: Using Counterwallet for Proof Of Existence?

@MDW - That would be great if there was that many items to prove existed, and I didn't feel any rush to publish. But for me, it's more about having one thing I want to prove exists ASAP. So for the way I use POE, the Merkle tree approach does not give me any benefit. But I was just thinking this morning that I want to learn more about how Merkle trees work, and how one can prove individual elements of the tree with one hash, even if you only have one of many documents. Are you an expert in Merkle trees?

And I agree, I think I hear so much about POE hashes, but not enough about storing the actual data. If you could only have the data or a hash of the data, give me the data! Hopefully products like Maidsafe or Storj will be able to provide safe storage of data and POE at the same time!

  • Re: Using Counterwallet for Proof Of Existence?

@mdw I think using proofofexistence.com cost about $2 last time I used it. So scaling the cost down to miner's fees is a pretty huge savings!

You think there's an easier way to do it than using CounterWallet? I just stopped investigating when I saw the CW solution. To me, the small cost is negligible, and worth it vs. another chain. Just didn't want to keep paying $2 a pop!

  • Re: Using Counterwallet for Proof Of Existence?

@mdw I was following up on this thread, which I found looking for a cheap yet simple alternative to proofofexistence.com (which I've used enough to want to find a cheaper way): https://counterpartytalk.org/t/proof-of-existence-with-broadcast/451/11

    @loon3 thanks!

I was going to just ask one of our CP experts directly, but figured this was good info for the forums.

  • Using Counterwallet for Proof Of Existence?

Is there a good way to embed a hash in the blockchain using Counterwallet (with similar results to ProofOfExistence.com, but I'll provide the hash value)? I've heard that it's doable, and someone mentioned using the Broadcast function. I see Address Action>Feed Broadcast, but it doesn't scream as an obvious way to do it, with the various fields that pop up. Anyone know?

  • Re: Podcast format

I just downloaded some 4 month old episodes, and some recent episodes, to inspect them and see if I can see any differences. I was thinking there might be tags that hinted the content was music (players tend to start from beginning) or podcast, etc. (players tend to start where left off). But the tags are the same. So it's a tough to spot what has changed.

Just as a random guess, Adam uses Adobe Audition, and it's possible he upgraded to CC 2015 a couple of months ago, and it's possible it saves the MP3s differently, for some unknown reason.

I use podcast apps, and they always start where you leave off.

  • Re: Bitcoins And Gravy?

Just in case anyone has there calendar's set, I may not have John's interview finished and posted until tomorrow... We'll see...

  • Re: Bitcoins And Gravy?

Oh, I need to listen! Has anyone told John?

  • Re: BITCOINEX.XCP and the Counterparty Gateway

@cryptonaut How does BITCOINEX actually sustain a valuation equal to Bitcoin? I mean, it's defined that way, but how does one know they will actually be able to get one Bitcoin for one BITCOINEX, even say in a number of years? Is there some economic function to make sure BITCOINEX stays on par with Bitcoin? Is it backed by something? If I want to exchange my BITCOINEX for BTC, where can I do that? And can't you (in theory) just create BITCOINEX out of thin air, kind of the opposite of the ethos of Bitcoin? I understand the token's theoretical usefulness, but I don't understand how it functions in the real world. Are people using BITCOINEX? If so, how?

I don't mean this to come off as hostile, but as I'm doing some accounting, and researching every CP asset I have. And so I got curious about this token... I think of my BKEYCHAIN tokens, which only have a value if you trust I will send a Keychain when you redeem a token. In theory, I could sell a bunch of tokens, and never redeem anything (or die or something), in which case the tokens would be pretty worthless. I'm trying to understand if BITCOINEX is basically the same.

No hurry on an explanation, just trying to understand.

    Thanks!

  • Re: Logo Required for Ethereum Podcast

Looks like I'll be working on this art for @Legendface66.

  • Re: Re-post from The Content Market: Logo Required for Ethereum Podcast

Looks like @Legendface66 and I neglected to publicly post that I'm going to work on this art. Sorry for the confusion!

@veryveriviral I have two professional designers who would be more than adequate for the job.

    Shoot me an email. Thanks!
