Re: Communicate with your favorite personalities on Liberty.me
I am also interested to hear about how the site is from some of the members here.
I have been looking at it but just haven't pulled the trigger on it just yet. I saw that Roger Ver is literally paying people to join it though recently.

Re: Why Storj is not a MaidSafe competitor and is worth supporting.
I am certainly interested in Storj and am hoping to get on it soon to talk about it on Coin Fire.
The project certainly seems interesting from an upper level view though!

Re: Did you borrow more than $25k to go to college?
@shopnhowler WallStreet Journal (WSJ) finds:
"Even 24 years after graduation, students who borrowed more than $25,000 are less likely to enjoy their work and are less financially and physically fit than their counterparts who graduated without debt. For more recent college grads, the discrepancy is even more pronounced."
Those who borrowed twice more were found worse off:
"Recent grads who owed more than $50,000 were 9 percentage points more likely to report feeling their lives lacked purpose; 16 percentage points less likely to say they felt financially secure and 11 percentage points less likely to say they felt physically fit."
I've read a lot of posts on crypto forums of parents setting aside some bitcoin for their child(ren). While this is encouraging, I'd like to see bitcoin change more of the way people think of money and do away with debt-centric thinking or facsimiles thereof where people "go to school at all costs."
Anybody here relate to or are the exception WSJ's findings?
*edit: article linked
So, I have a friend who went to medical school to become a doctor. He spent over 500 thousand dollars to do so.
You'd think, hey he is a doctor, it should be easy to pay that back.
Not. So. Fast.
He has been truly struggling as the insurance companies now require such high levels of malpractice insurance and unless you work at a hospital where everything is covered (not the case at a private practice, they take it out of your checks for a long time).
Each year, the interest on his loans seems to go up. No matter how many on-time payments he seems to make. Even more sad most of the banks are private and are unwilling to consolidate loans that go this high at this time.
He is really struggling and says that the insurmountable debt he has taken on has really made his job less appealing but he is now trapped. If he decides to do something else and not use his degree it is an entire waste but the debt is literally crushing him and makes him really hate what he did and regret it even further.
In our area, we don't have a doctor shortage so he said he will move somewhere where they do but with the current level of student debt he has it makes even doing that quite difficult.
Education is seriously broken as it stands for a large number of people and I certainly hope that cryptocurrency can help in savings for this sort of thing.
Only time will tell though of course :)

Re: For the real metal heads out there. Come and enjoy the real metal taste.
@hesham3del Hello,
As I'm a metal-head, I want to share the beauty of this genre with you guys.
Lets start with one of the most amazing American metal bands ever, Metallica.
The Unforgiven III - Metallica
Metallica fan eh?
You know, I've always been torn about them. For many years I just thought a lot of the songs sounded the same but as I've grown older I've come to appreciate them more and more.
