I have been watching MaidSafe closely lately. In a few days (12th or 13th of August) Max Keiser will air an interview with MaidSafe founder David Irvine which I believe will push the momentum behind the project considerably. In the words of David Irvine, MaidSafes purpose is as follows: 1: Encrypt Data beyond any encryption algorithm 2: Create an autonomous network that would provide the computation to handle data (structured and unstructured) as well as secure communications and remove IP addresses. 3: Provide a mechanism for users to create accounts and log in, this had to be between only users and the network, zero intermediaries or servers. -and of these STORJ would play a small part of no.2. Truth is, Shawn Wilkinson of STORJ and David Irvine of MaidSafe look forward to working together towards the same goals. One definitely enhances and compliments the other.

From what I understand, MaidSafe is basically for creating decentralized applications for anything. They want to decentralize all aspects of the internet. Storj on the other hand is specifically decentralized data storage (dropbox like service)

I am certainly interested in Storj and am hoping to get on it soon to talk about it on Coin Fire.
The project certainly seems interesting from an upper level view though!

The project certainly seems interesting from an upper level view though! Storj founder here. I see CoinFire everywhere, and I like what you are doing. We should definitely talk.

I have high hopes for Storj and MaidSafe. What I'm hoping is that I'll be able to take two drives of equal size, with one used as local storage and the other used for Storj/MaidSafe as backup. I copy data to Storj/MaidSafe and it's backed up in the cloud. I'm not ready to have my only copy of a file exist in Storj/MaidSafe or even Dropbox.
