  • Re: How do you deal with plagiarism?

    @jake15 I don't see the problem here? They reported on a story (as all media does) and cited the original source (your site). It is a common media practice to take other stories as long as credit is given where due. Since they cited your source, there is nothing to do and they have done nothing wrong. Major news outlets like CNN, WSJ, NYT and others do the same thing everyday.

    They didn't initially source me.

    It appears this has changed since I posted here.

    So of course this paints me out to be a liar or someone just throwing around wild accusations.

    Sites shouldn't suddenly change things, then fail to say they updated them.

    @cryptonaut

    @coinfire

    @lovebitcoins Just noticed a new community roundup hasn't been posted. Are you guys still doing these?

    They are my cheat sheet.

    It is coming! It shows as published on my dashboard. @cryptonaut any reason it says published but doesn't appear?

    It looks like there was a featured image uploaded for it, but no "cover image", so it wasnt showing up on the front page (we are not using the "featured image" field really at the moment). Its up there now but looks like will need a recropped version of that image

    Total brain fart on my part. I will see if I can edit it.

    @y0c0ins Shame on them. I hope you are able to work this out.

    I hope so as well. I've reached out to them and they seemed to have brushed it off. Likely expecting that nothing more will ever come of it.

  • Re: How do you deal with plagiarism?

    @cryptonaut damn, that sucks. I wouldnt be surprised if the majority of their stories were just ripped off from other sources (a lot of news sites seem to do this..)

    It seems this is sadly the case.

    I know this is an everyday sort of thing I'm just curious as to what people think the best course of action is. Do you just ignore it?

  • How do you deal with plagiarism?

    I've really struggled with this one but decided to reach out to the community to see what you guys think the best course of action is.

    We recently posted a scoop about imgur. A scoop that wasn't easy to get and cost our staff some travel time to actually go and get the story.

    We posted it here: http://coinfire.cf/2014/08/09/imgur-confirms-will-add-bitcoin-premium-accounts/

    A site called XXXXXXXXXXX recently posted this: Removed link

    As you can see they read as pretty similar stories.

    Is it possible they sent someone to the same offices we did, talked to the exact same two departments we did? Of course, anything is possible.

    Is it likely? No.

    We've reached out to the site to ask them to at least state where they received the information and they've told us they "would check in to it". Here we are several days later and they still haven't changed anything.

    How do you think we should be handling this at Coin Fire?

    I'm curious to get the community reaction because we do realize this sort of thing does happen all of the time but getting this scoop cost did cost us money to travel and get it.

    Edit: I removed the links to the site as they have since corrected this issue. Locking this thread just to prevent any potential in-fighting. Love you all though

  • Re: Why Storj is not a MaidSafe competitor and is worth supporting.

    @super3

    @coinfire I am certainly interested in Storj and am hoping to get on it soon to talk about it on Coin Fire.

    The project certainly seems interesting from an upper level view though! Storj founder here. I see CoinFire everywhere, and I like what you are doing. We should definitely talk.

    Thanks for the kind words. Sending you a PM now.

  • Re: Did you borrow more than $25k to go to college?

    @belltown You guys should just think what you chose to study and if it will give you a good job or not. It's really dumb to borrow money and hope that your degree will give you a job.

    My wife borrowed more then 50k for her degree, but she was almost sure that she will graduate with the job because she already worked as a paid intern while she was studying. She graduated with 27k loan that she paid off in full about 6-7 months later because she was working all that time.

    But some of her friends decided to be foolish and they got degree in something that had no hope to get a reasonable job. Some still work at a fast food industry now with a degree and a fat 100k student loan.

    I agree, my friend thought being a doctor would lead to a good job... because that is what everyone says. Most stats still show it is a good thing but it appears it isn't always.

  • Re: Does LTBcoin require fiat to survive?

    @disengage I intend to use my LTBc to buy advertising for my webcomic. For this purpose, a fiat value is unnecessary. Even if I wanted to check my return on investment, my webomic only accepts BTC donations so I'd do those calculations in terms of BTC, as in: "a 15,000 LTBc advertising spot resulted in X BTC donated on my website, Yay!"

    That being said, I'm not saying that LTBc having a fiat value isn't useful. The fact that it can be exchanged for filthy fiat will undoubtedly bring in people interested in doing just that. Interest from traders and speculators might just grow the network, making LTBc more valuable when used for advertising.

    Filthy fiat made me laugh a little.

    I also don't look at the total fiat value of LTBcoin but rather as 1 LTBcoin = 1 LTBcoin :)

  • Re: Professional illustrator available for commissions.

    Are you accepting LTBcoin by chance?
