    Sponsor everybody's favorite bitcoin podcast with LTBc in Episode #133 set to debut this Tuesday, August the 5th!

    Current High Bid(s): 33,000 / 32,000 LTBc

    Number of Bids: 6

    Final Standings:

    Other previous bidders: n/a

    Last Results:

    Slot 1 price: 72,000 LTBc from @jratcliff63367 for Laurens art: http://laurenratcliff.com/collections/shop/

    Slot 2 price: 60,250 LTBc from @bcohen for LTBc Hive: https://hivewallet.com/

    Up for auction are two (2) blocks of forty-five (45) second intervals in this coming week's first episode of Let's Talk Bitcoin! Episode #133 will be released on Tuesday the 5th, and whether or not your business/project will be a part of it is up to you.

    Bidding will start at 10k LTBc. Please keep minimum bid increments to 250 LTBc (10,000 -> 10,250 or greater)

    This auction will end at 6:00 PM PST on Sunday, August the 3rd. Any bids submitted after that time but before closure of the thread will not be considered. A bid on the close as logged by the post's official time stamp (in this case, 6:00 PM) is a valid bid, however one minute after (6:01) is not. The top two overall bids in the thread will be awarded slots 1 and 2, respectively.

    What exactly am I bidding on?

    The two slots fill scheduled breaks in the episode. Adam will do his own research on your business/project and will spend approximately 45 seconds talking about what you do. Adam reserves the right to veto any winning bids if he feels that doing a live read for your project would not be mutually beneficial. No scripts will be accepted. If you want him to focus on a particular area of your project, mention it with your bid.

    Please state your bid in LTBc along with what project you are bidding on behalf of. (a link would be nice)

    Please note that you will receive no editorial control for your winning bid. The live read will be approximately 45 seconds but no guarantees are made for it to be exactly that length of time.

    What if I'm the winning bid?

    After you receive confirmation that you have won, please remit payment in LTBc to the following address: 16mtsJE29zY5Rw2c4XunVFeg7DmbGedS9M

    Payment will be expected by 11:59 PM PST of the day that the auction closes. If you cannot meet this deadline, please state so ahead of time. If we have not heard from you or received payment by then, we will assume that you are defaulting and your slot will be given to the next bidder in line.

    What kinds of people sponsor the show?

    Lots of people! Here are a few of our recent sponsors:

    But I'm new to LTB, I don't have any LTBcoin!

    Well, you can purchase it from the private market currently either at Melotic (https://www.melotic.com/markets/ltbcoin-btc) or through a Counterparty Counterwallet (https://www.counterparty.co/ and https://counterwallet.co/)

    There are also LTB ad brokers such as Bitofthis (@bcohen or http://www.bitofthis.com/ltb-advertising-broker.html ) which, as you can see, is one of our previous sponsors! They will use their own LTBc reserves to bid on your behalf and the two of you can settle up in whatever currency you agree upon later.

    Feel free to ask for clarification on any of the above points, or any other questions you may have in this thread. I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible.

  • Re: Stellar - New Crypto by Stripe

    @lainfinity

    @mike I want to clarify 3 points.

    1.Throughout last 5000 years of history centralized monetary system have failed, is failing, will fail in future. My understanding is that it will not liberate humanity but only keep them as slaves.

    Granted, I agree with this one. But the point is that Ripple and Stellar aren't centralized. They're just more centralized than bitcoin. The goal is still to be decentralized, there just aren't enough incentives yet to have enough nodes to be able to say that it is fully decentralized. It is a distributed ledger, though.

    2.I will not agree facebook is the only way to identify legitimate users, they are many other ways for example you can track legitimate user by the ip address.

    I never said that facebook was the only way to do so. Simply that it was one of the best ways to do so easily. IP addresses can be faked. Easily. There are an infinite amount of services designed to do so.

    3.If ltbcoin or any other coin for that matter would have asked for facebook account or google account as mandatory requirement, I would not have signed for it.

    Granted. You are free to your opinion and desire to keep that information secure. I never said that their system is optimal. It is just their system. I don't think they are trying to track people. Simply verify that you are a real person, with real friends, who didn't just create a random facebook in order to make a new wallet and receive a free 7000 STR. And then repeated that 500 times to receive 3.5million STR. Proof of uniqueness is a rather difficult task, when done through the internet.

    @dpc It should be noted that Facebook is by no means a necessary component to use the service. Facebook is only asked for if you want free coins. Facebook is a low friction way to authenticate a mass of people. It's not a 100% solution and many people will be left out. If there are better ways to authenticate massive amounts of people in an low friction way you should make suggestions.

    I agree that we should support decentralized solutions and not support tokens that are designed to track users. But the fact that they chose to use facebook as a way to distribute tokens isn't a crime. We are all totally free to not sign in. As much as everyone loves satoshi, BTC has not solved all the worlds currency problems yet. We need more experiments and onramps to cryptos for the average person who doesn't have the time or inclination to research cryptos. Once they get in, then they can decide if they want to use the token that tracks them or the token that doesn't.

    Well said. Better than I have been able to iterate, but conveying exactly my point. Cheers, mate.

    @bcohen

    “More importantly, they demonstrated that their ecosystem is. arbitrary. They do what they want, when they want, with no public input.

    This is legitimately the main reason that I have never owned an Apple product. If they were more open about everything I would probably be more inclined to give it a go.

    Unfortunately I don't really like the OSs/interface either, though.

  • Re: Stellar - New Crypto by Stripe

    @lainfinity

    I totally agree I also tested the waters.

    It is a proper scam, they are tracking you and all your friend's profile.

    It is a profanity and an abomination to the principles and ideologies of Satoshi and the whole Bitcoin eco system.

    It is because they think if you throw peanuts monkeys will dance.

    I could be wrong, but I don't really think they give a damn about you and your friends. All they want is to make sure that they aren't handing millions of stellars over to a script kiddie that can generate thousands of new facebook accounts and thousands of fake friends in minutes. They want their distribution to be fair and spread across a very significant portion of people all around the world.

    Facebook is currently the best way to verify the most amount of people. No other network has as many legitimate users as facebook does, so it makes a little bit of sense to verify legitimacy this way. Do I think that it should be the only way? Absolutely not. I'm confident they think that also and will be adding more verification methods rather soon.

    @toplel seems unnecessary, just another btc clone, we have btc for everything

    Stellar and Ripple are actually vastly different that bitcoin right down to the very consensus method used. In fact, they are currently much more centralized, which is why people refer to them more as distributed networks currently than decentralized ones. Both networks are also far more viable for frequent microtransactions than bitcoin is in its current state. Both networks are also consume far less resources to sustain than btc.

    So no, I will not agree that it is just another btc clone. There are many, but these two networks are legitimately new concepts. That's not to say they're the answer for anything, or that they are even good. Merely that they are pretty significantly different and worth examining.

    Couldn't agree more. Oh and wait i have to signup to get them so ama keep away.

    I'm sorry to hear that. I'm also sorry that you had to sign up the LetsTalkBitcoin in order to receive "free" LTBc. I'm also sorry that you had to download software and register your wallet and expose it to the internet in order to obtain and hold bitcoin. Just sayin' :P

  • Re: Escrow service for LTBcoin in the Bazaar

    I'm sure they've got something in development for this. In the meantime, if there are any people trying to exchange valuable items on the site I would gladly serve as an escrow.
