  • Re: Pizza for LTBCoin

@IvanB I think you started a thread which will become legend. Years from now, when there are 84 pages on this thread they will speak of the ancient ones who had no idea what the future of LTB would be.

  • Re: Google authentication

@kunzle SDK is software development kit, for people developing apps, it's a simulator of phone that runs on computer.

Where LTBc is traded is not up to LTB. Each exchange makes a decision about what tokens they want to carry. I expect more will add LTBc in coming weeks as they see community growing and continuing to be stable. We can help that process along by asking the exchanges to list it.

  • Re: Google authentication

Google authenticator gives you a new 6-digit number every 30 seconds or so. It seems to be available for iOS and Android. So I think if you don't have a smartphone or tablet running one of these OSes you might be able to download and run a simulator instead. Download the SDK and run there. This is easier said than done tho.

A temporary and not very good workaround might be to have a friend install it on their phone. Then whenever you want to withdraw from Melotic you call them up and get the code.

A much better solution that may take time is to petition Melotic to allow either choosing "no 2FA" or picking a different kind. They might use a second password, which is not as bad as it sounds if implemented as Blockchain.info does - using an onscreen keyboard to type it in via mouse clicks.

Finally the great solution - petitioning other exchanges to carry LTBc. It would benefit the whole community.

  • Re: LTB editing should be de-centralised

This is certainly a source of frustration to more people than the one who spoke out, @joey.lucia. But I think it's inevitable when building something new. There will be unexpected problems.

The temporary problem is that the onboarding of new editors seems to have hit a snag or two, as @rotalumis mentioned. There are longer term issues as well, like automating a fair "negotiation" between authors and editors as @Cherapple described. Unfortunately these get resolved by an iterative process:

    1. clearly identify problem
    2. agree on a proposed solution
    3. implement solution
    4. re-evaluate:
IF (solution did not solve problem) discard failed solution and return to step #2
ELSE codify solution into the platform
    5. IF only partially solved, return to step #1 and restate problem

The strategy makes sense, but requires patience. Innovation entails making mistakes and adjusting; trial and error. Lots of bandages get used on the bleeding edge. Ouch!

  • Re: 50 million NXT stolen from Bter

If they had rolled back to before the incident I would sell out my small stake.

Their tech seems good, but if the crypto can be governed so arbitrarily by a central group then the advantage as a decentralized asset has been lost. Don't let the core dev team become the central bankers if you want to keep me on board.

  • Re: 50 million NXT stolen from Bter

NXT gets a black eye for something that clearly appears to be the fault of Bter, whether it's incompetence or dishonesty.

I suppose the guy who keeps 50 million tokens on an exchange deserves some blame too. Did MT Gox v5 teach us nothing?

Did they decide to do a hard fork to blacklist the stolen coins? IMO that will make NXT community at fault too, for punishing all us stakeholders for the foolishness of one guy and the incompetence of an exchange.

  • Re: How to keep your CounterWallet Password Safe?

Write to a file and encrypt it, then put a copy somewhere on the net. Should be plenty safe for a wallet that's not worth all that much.

  • Re: ANY QUESTIONS? FRIDAY RECORDING: Andreas, Stephanie, Adam + Anthony Di Iorio on Ethereum

I'd be curious to hear from Anthony about Distributed Apps.

If Ethereum is a general purpose computing platform, is anyone building stuff like middleware or is everyone building apps?

In the early days people wrote simple programs which were compiled on that machine. Over time more effort was put into compilers, then operating systems, then networking, and so on. Apps today are much more generalized and more capable as a result.

Any efforts to incentivize people to build those layers of value instead of applications?

  • Re: [Sharing ideas and important discussion] How can we increase the value of LTBcoins beside creating content ?

Participate in a positive and constructive way on other crypto sites. But with some reference to LTBc in your sig, so people will be curious.
