Re: The Internet of Money: A Network of Networks
Many of the ideas that have sprung up from the debate caused by the invention and application of crypto-currency could be considered "a bit out there", but that doesn't mean that those ideas couldn't become realities one day.
Considering how little innovation has happened in the institutional and personal financial sector in the last 80 years or so, I believe that any well-crafted idea could become a brand new innovation just bc we have the technology now. Not to mention that the technology has created immense discussion and once you get dedicated and inspired people talking..well, anything can happen. :)

Re: The Internet of Money: A Network of Networks
The "network of networks" concept, I think, could truly change the valuation of not only digital assets, but any physical asset as well. There is just so much value locked away in the by-products of consumer culture. It's all just so interesting.
I can see the eventual issuance of community-based crypto-currencies or crypto-asset networks as the first major steps towards the rebirth of the barter economy. The exchangeability that is possible through these specialized payment networks could actually allow us to know running rates of second-hand items, no matter what they are!
Ideas, ideas..

Re: Introduce yourself!
Hello everyone!
My name is Scott and I'm from Oxford, MS where I've been attending Ole Miss since the beginning of 2012 and working towards an Economics degree. I believe it was in February 2013 that I first learned about Bitcoin through a random TIL post on Reddit about the year 2140 and after I first clicked the link to the Bitcoin wiki, I was completely hooked. I won't lie and say I wasn't seriously trying to mine btc with my iMac because I had those original delusions of the "money tree". Of course, those delusions dissipated pretty quickly and I began truly studying Bitcoin and the protocol as well as developing interests in the altcoins of the time, specifically Litecoin.
My intrigue just compounded on itself ten-fold and I was essentially obsessed with the concept of crpyto-currencies and their implications for the future of wealth and value. I made my first Bitcoin purchase of 0.10 btc for the incredible price of $4.84 in early March 2013 and I haven't stopped purchasing and using btc since.
If I could guess what the first episode of LTB was that I listened to, I'd have to say somewhere around E40 or around the time of the The Island of Stone Bitcoins. Also, I must say that after discovering LTB, it instantly became part of my routine and just expanded my knowledge of crypto-currency greatly.
But yeahh, I should probably just stop typing. LolIt's great to be in the community!Posted on March 20, 2014 at 2:51 PM

Re: LTBcoin Promotion Pool
If it is worth noting, I run this very minor Facebook page called Final Bit, that acts as a sort of launchpad for my local consulting service and as a news aggregate. I typically post and/or discuss LTB podcasts and of course, I posted the most recent one concerning LTBcoin. Just trying to get the word out, even though I don't have much of a following right now.

Re: What about a decentralized Crypto-Currency Consultancy?
Ahh, well of course! I've been to Humint's site a few times and it seems to be really similar to what I've been trying to devise on the local level. My main issues have been: raising awareness, limiting any hassle with btc, etc integration, and making the whole "crypto-currency" thing understandable to everyone else.
What are your opinions on facilitating these things in the grassroots way I've kinda described? I'm just pretty interested in discussing the concept, whatever it may be.Posted on March 20, 2014 at 5:41 AM

What about a decentralized Crypto-Currency Consultancy?
Okay, so I'm pretty new at having an idea and thinking it could actually work, but here it goes.
I've been developing this concept for a decentralized consultancy for about 2 months or so and I really think there is something to be had in "employing" people, myself included, in a cooperative-like entity that essentially helps connect businesses and consumers with crypto-currency. The very core of the idea comes from my total inability to convince small businesses in my area to accept Bitcoin or to even do the due diligence of research on what I've blathered about to them as I'm paying for breakfast. I live in a small town in MS so that might be one issue, but the main concern I think is the lack of resources and intelligent people with good advice or good skills for consulting and the like. In a sense, it comes down to this: If we want everyone in the world to use Bitcoin, Litecoin, LTBcoin, etc, we need a reliable way to distribute information and act as liaisons for businesses and advisers for consumers or just anyone with a spark of interest. It might be better to refer to the consulting service as outreach, just a way of spreading knowledge and bringing more participants into the community.
I'm not sure if Let's Talk Bitcoin or LTBcoin necessarily have to be the foundations for this decentralized, possibly global consultancy, but I thought I'd share the concept and see what you all had to say.Posted on March 20, 2014 at 4:59 AM

Re: LTBcoin Launch Day Distribution
I honestly can't wait to hopefully become part of the LTB community and participate with content submission and the like. It's definitely incredible what LTB is doing by itself, but once many more people are recruited..I can only imagine! Good luck with everything.
