  • Re: Is Mining worth it?

@jamesmm Be sure to use a calculator that figures in the difficulty increase over time. The one at bitcoinwisdom accounts for difficulty and shows over time what your profits (or losses) will be.

Most calculators just use today's difficulty, which yes is profitable. But over the course of around 60 days they become unprofitable as the difficulty increases.

All the hardware I've looked at will never even make the cost of the hardware back. They get close, but then they start costing more in electricity than they make each day.

So IMO it's not worth it. Unless you have free electricity or gamble that the coins you do mine will be worth a lot more in a year or so.

But this all does puzzle me..... if there's no reason to get into mining, how is it we have so many miners and such a large hash rate?

The answer is simple: because your math does not take real life into equation.

I'm a miner, and I've broken even and made profit on one generation of miners, and I'm working on my second generation now. The key is to understand that if you sell the BTC right away when you get them then you will sell at unprofitable prices (at times). Hold, believe, then cash out slowly when the value rises.

  • Re: Record my article(s) as audio.

@tim-tams I was gonna say that I still plan to add music but I was just busy. However, the file seems to have spread a bit and it might be better to leave this one as-is. I'd still love to do some more though and can hopefully improve with them. Let me know which article(s) I should do.

I've sent 8100 LTBc, thanks for the help.

I got three more articles I'm working on atm and I don't know yet which I will finish first, but once I get near ready on one I'd like a recording of it before it gets published.

Could you send me an email at [email protected] and I'll drop you an email with the information when it's time?

  • QUIZCOIN.XCP

This is a proof-of-participation token for cryptographic quiz walks.

Each quiz will have a predifined timeframe during which people compete with each other to submit as many correct answers as possible. At the end of a quiz all participants will recieve one QUIZCOIN.XCP as proof of their participation and, depending on the host of the quiz walk, some other assets (normally bitcoins).

We will hold a private beta on the 6th of August and I intend to release all source code, tools and associated code and art under an open source license once we reach version 1.0.

Once released to the public anyone may login on our website and set up their own quiz walk.

    Questions?

  • Re: OH HAI, DID YOU RECEIVE 3 EXTRA LTBCOIN DISBURSEMENTS?

I've gone over and checked mine:

Jul 26th 2014, 11:44:28 pm Send of 162,154.07 LTBCOIN to Random Assets Jul 27th 2014, 12:24:57 am Send of 6,320.223 LTBCOIN to Random Assets Jul 27th 2014, 2:47:28 am Send of 25,731.24069592 LTBCOIN to Random Assets

I believe these are, in order, the proof of publication (I wrote 2 articles), the 5+ post bonus and the proof of participation.

So I did my part and checked.

  • Re: LTBCoin on Peershares?

I visited the link and read a bit, but I don't quite see how it's different from counter/dogeparty. Would you care to elaborate on how this works and where the differences comes in?

  • Re: LTBcoin stats page

no, wait. it's shows it for the specific individual MrAverage. My bad.

Would've been nice to see your own score and reward there if you're logged in.

  • Re: LTBcoin stats page

This shows our individual scoring and rewards?

    Looks nice.

  • Re: Melotic bitcoin withdrawal frozen [FIXED]

Frozen might refer to it being tied up in open orders. If you have open orders then you might want to cancel them befory trying to withdraw the value they require for fullfillment.

It could also just be some bad luck with blocks, I'm not sure. Let us know how it goes.

  • Re: #Doodling4Tips

I'll tip you handsomely for helping with making doodles for the story board over at http://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/fundraiser-educational-video-family-economics so we can get an educational video about family economics made at some point in the future :)

  • Re: Would You Pay for Early Access? What about all articles-as-audio for commuters?

@sir-real Where is our pay with btc, get articles in audio format? I would load up on those, as sometimes have to drive 4 hours or more for work.

It's still in the "we're thinking about it" phase. Nothing has actually been implemented yet.

That said, I took the liberty of making it happen for my first article about family economy, as I believe it to be important. Paying with LTBc from my own pocket so you could have it recorded, so I sure hope at least one person listens to it and like what they hear :D
