@framelalife For everyday use I'm partial to mac OSX. I don't think I'll ever switch back to Windows. I still use Windows at work and when I was mining, Win 7 was def my go to. I have tried Linux multiple times. It's a great platform but just not for me. I hate doing so many things through command line.

Hey frame! Glad to see you make it over here. This is a great community, and when you get a chance (not on this thread as it doesnt apply) I would like to talk to you about private Octo forums you can have for only OCTOPARTY holders :)

Command line can be intimidating. It gives you more control over everything (since you are forced to really use it a lot) but at the same time prevents you from really screwing things up if you dont ever use it.

Though I do not like Mac, its like a linux machine that you cant do anything but apple software on. Even with folding it gets really screwy. One day companies will build easy to install packages on Linux. The Ubuntu software center is great for the non linux user, but i do admit, it has a long way to go.

Right, and I've done quite a bit of command line on my mac. There are certain things that command line is quicker for on all OS's. I don't mind doing it and use it often but I just don't want to be forced to do it and remember commands all the time.

Yeah we will have to discuss the forums here. I've always trolled here since I listen to the podcast just never joined.

I'll def set something up here since it's very CP friendly.

I'm still waiting for the guys who wanted to do the burn to get back with me. I know GW wife is in the hospital so I'm trying to be patient.

I'll keep you updated. I'm going to start the website this week so that will keep me busy.

I have used Windows as my main OS for about 10 years now and I am happy with it.

I administer a datacenter that supports mostly Windows workstations and servers, but we have some Linux appliances that we have to run to keep everything working properly and safely (NetScaler, etc.). On my personal desktop at home, I dual-boot between Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu, and also run virtual machines of many different kinds (LinuxMint, RoboLinux, UbuntuMATE, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012, etc.). I use a laptop that also dual-boots between Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 14.10.

Finally, I have a couple of Raspberry Pi devices that I use as host computers for my bitcoin mining rigs. I love the RPi!!!

That tends to be many organizations setups:

    • Windows for client stations
    • Linux for security and serrvers
    • RPis for awesomeness

Ok, at least I'll try it!

Some days ago I've opened a new Tor node and everything else to obtain a .onion link (to share it if people want to add to their bitcoin.conf file) and start my own full bitcoin node… but I've had some problems with it and now it's everything in "pause" mode :)

I'm going to start a new topic if I finally start another time with it ;) yes!

I use Windows and I've also used IOS. I would like to install Linux on an old acer aspire laptop I have but I'm not too technical and I haven't found the time to go through all the information available online, there is a lot to be understood for me.

If someone reading this has got any clue of where should I go to get simple instructions to install Linux, I appreciate his / her indications. For what I understand Linux is the OS that we all should use to increase security and privacy around the internet.

    Thank you all.
