Feel free to post what coins you are currently mining. Are they profitable? What hardware are you using? What rate are you hashing at? Put it as much or as little details as you would like. Explain why you choose a certain coin! www.cointweak.com is a great site for predicting profits.

I don't know if it is allowed by the survey but I'm mining huntercoin (human mining), the hardware is a crappy mouse :)

I don't have any rig so I try with this type of altcoins.

    Currently Mining: Curecoin

    • Algorithm: FAH (Folding@Home)
    • Total Hash/day: ~750,000 PPD
    • Revenue/day: $6.38
    • Profit/day: $3.06
    • Hardware: 2x290x Tri-X, 2x HIS 7950, and a 3770k CPU
    • Explanation: I love mining coins that serve a purpose. When I discovered Curecoin, a coin where you use your GPU power to protein fold, it was right up my alley. Scientists using protein folding models to help create cures for all types of diseases, including cancer and alzheimer's. Thus, when you're mining, your energy isn't going to waste. The fact that this coin is profitable after energy costs also doesn't hurt. However, I am holding for now, as I expect great things for this coin, and could see some big backing/partnerships with this coin in the future.

Nothing is really "profitable " right now but I love the idea of mining folding coins for science......makes sense to me?

I am really interested in that curecoin. I saw the thread on bitcointalk but it is way too long. Can you tell me how to get the fold the best, is it gpu intensive? Which hardware do you recommend?

first of all you need to make a calculation for rentability like for a bussiness. the electricity bill is your greatest enemy. for that i use this site https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator you can enter all the numbers and it will also get also the rizing difficulty in calculation what is very very important.

so before you buy anthing or start looking for code or configurations you can have idea what it can give. how long it takes to pay back the invested money etc etc

    good luck...

    Algorithm: SHA256

    Total Hash/day: 25 G

    Revenue/day: $0.40

    Profit/day: $0.40

    Hardware: Unknown

Explanation: I use PBMining (not meaning to advertise) and I've only recently gotten into mining. Bitcoin is my favorite coin and always will be, mostly because it is the father of the coins. I'm not really sure what much I can explain about it since everyone known bitcoin by heart (or so I could assume).

Sure thing! To get started on Curecoin, I would follow the guide here: https://www.cryptobullionpools.com/about

Before buying any hardware, I'd get set up and try folding (mining) on what you currently have to get used to it. It is GPU intensive, as in you'll be using 100% of your GPU, but very energy efficient and can still do everyday tasks while folding. For example, on this computer I am using right now, I am folding on 2x7950 AMDs and can browse the web, play wow, and do most normal things without any stuttering or lag.

As for energy efficiency, in my garage I have 2x290x AMDs folding. When I was scrypt mining, at optimal overclocks, they were using 380 watts EACH. Folding Curecoin, they use 180 watts each. Over a 50% energy reduction, while providing valuable research for science.

If you have anymore questions, please ask. Not meaning to advertise at all. I gain nothing if you start mining Curecoin, in fact I'd probably lose profit since difficulty would increase. Just trying to share a coin that I believe serves two purposes, and is environmentally friendly.

As for hardware, if I had to do it all over again, I'd go with Nivida 750TI to mine. They are very energy efficient, using only 60w Thermal Design Power (TDP). That basically means that's the max wattage it can use (minus overclocks). Folding/mining Curecoin, I predict each card would only use 30-35 watts when overclocked, since Curecoin is so energy efficient.

You can build a complete system (with motherboard, cpu, RAM, SSD, etc included) with 6x750TI for around $1070, depending on the deals you get. Each 750TI should pull ~85k PPD, but as drivers improve, since Maxwell is very new, that number should creep up. I plan on building on of these systems in a month or two when I finish hiking the Appalachian Trail, so I can report back then on how it goes.

I am not jumping into it without preparing ofcourse, but thank you for the info. Appreciate it :) I have tried running it on my laptop to see how it works, but it seems to take 13 days complete 1 work unit.

is that the time my pc needs to be up and running to complete it, or is the full team working on it? Also I read, you only get paid after completing one work unit, so that can take a while. Do you also have this long folding time? (notice I set it on light, but on full throtle it still takes 9 days)
