    might be used to do a lot of spam posts, because there are no rules governing the post. so they do it to get a lot LTBC, possible by the existence of such rules will make them to think before making a post.

    I've translated to Indonesian first post and posted here.

    @badworker @asdolino

    I don't remember what posts I warned the Italian community in. It could have been just that one time. Doesn't matter. I'm not your school teacher or policeman. ;)

    Also, I didn't mention the Italian board to single you out. Sorry if it came across that way. The Spanish board is the only other one I can understand and it is relatively quiet from what I've seen. From the spam reports we've been getting, it looks like many of the other language boards have their own share of crap.

    Ideally, we would find a way for foreign language boards to elect their own mods and police themselves. @cryptonaut @adam, and everyone else: thinking caps on!

    The problem is that it is hard to make sure that it all works well and runs fairly when you don't understand the language, and frankly we'd rather spend our time building cool stuff than on police patrol. This issue will partly sort itself out as the foreign communities grow and certain members earn trust with the rest of the LTB community. It's up to you guys to prove yourselves.

    There is a "Flag/Report" button on every post. When the community is big enough, I see how that could work as a downvote in reddit, and posts with negative votes would be considered as spam. However, right now, proper spam might not get enough downvotes while it would be easy for spammers to game the system and blacklist legitimate posts. Again, small-community problems.

    @rotalumis

    I reported so many times posts that I consider spam, but nothing happened. Posts are still there. Is needed a more efficient system to report/mark spam posts. You said it, a reddit-like system could be a solution and I also think that THIS is the moment to introduce it, when the board will be larger could be too late. Trusted users that are showing interest for this board (not only to the earning aspect) could be good moderators. I mean, moderators that understand the subsections language is a must have, consider to introduce this ASAP.

    The other trend I see is people going back to much older posts and adding a "yeah, that is right" or "me too" type post to it. Should there be a lock on threads with no activity for x number of days - say a week with no updates? Maybe allow the initial author to unlock if necessary?

    I'm glad you are addressing the spam. Perhaps we need the mods to do a "clean sweep" to remove/lock the existing spam posts to set the example of what is good/allowed and what is not?

    wow thats cool....just kidding. I couldn't resist but I'm very glad to see this being implemented. I've received far to many replies to post that I can't even decipher most times.

    @rotalumis Spam is starting to get out of control and people are posting very low quality stuff to quickly "get their 10 posts in". (See discussion here.)

    Here's what we're going to do:

    Posts that get flagged and deleted will get you NEGATIVE Proof of Participation and a loss of LTBc. That's very easy to implement, and we can make it as harsh as necessary. It could even carry over to following weeks and lower your future rewards. There is no excuse for spam.

    We might make a post about this when it's up, or we might not. Anyone who is posting spam or useless posts like "me too" or "wow thats cool", consider yourself warned.

    The same thing goes for those posting silly threads, or threads that are off-topic.

    This measure will reduce spam and leave more LTBc for those who post genuinely good comments.

    "Wow that's cool" Hee Hee. Sorry couldn't help myself, my sick sense of humour. Spank spank naughty boy.

    We should also send a pm to the spammer so they know they will be penalized and lose participation points. Either automatically copy the post and send a message or manually send a pm.

    Something like: "Your post was marked as spam. As a result you will lose some of your LTBc distribution. Please only post comments that move the conversation forward. For example rather than posting "I agree" or "me too" you can use the like button. We are glad to have you as a part of the community and hope you can help us keep the quality of our forums high."

    Or perhaps someone with writing skills can take a crack.

    I also thought of a downvote option but it could be easily spoofed for people who don't like what you say and could have ultimately a negative impact on someone who is posting meaningful content that disagrees with the majority.

    Also, the suggestion for board coefficients won't solve the problem; it'll exacerbate it! If 1 post = .1 english post, then there would just be 10x as many. Also it's pretty discriminatory.

    Looks like for now manually is the way to do this, which sucks.

    Good idea.

    @cryptonaut, this should probably happen upon delete.

    I didnt realize just how bad the spam posts were until i read this thread a checked out a few threads i dont normally visit. Maybe going forward, it would be cool if the spammers had all their weeks worth of PoP points deleted. It would be funny to know that all their weeks worth of 3 word post made them 0 LTBc.

    Although they might not mind since they are probably the same people who spam email for a living.
