I am creating a news topic under the tag NEWS and write there about interesting news in the Russian branch, it is considered as spam?

p.s Here is the same branch: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/news4 (not advertising)

Subjectively (from my perspective), not spam.

Especially if you continue in your discussion topic.

Negative proof of participation points for deleted/buried posts is now in effect. See this post: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/ltb-platform-updates?page=5#post-29617

@rotalumis there shouldn't be (IMHO) non-english forums unless articles on the LTB platform are written in those languages. How do we know that these non-english threads have anything meaningful to say?

    well one could use http://translate.google.com

I've actually tried to go on some of these threads and start a conversation using Google translate. THe conversation was a non-starter.

Then watch the nonsense ESL (maybe we should call it GESL ---Google English Second Language) posted on the english speaking forums.

Ideally, we would have a number of trusted mods for each language, but that's probably not a practical thing to do or police right now.

The alternative I see is to keep the foreign boards (because they can be genuinely useful) but exclude them from the PoP scheme. Some of the foreign boards I can understand can get very bad. The Italians in particular were jokingly referring to each other as "spammoni", or spammers, and I warned them a couple times.

I'd like to hear @adam and the community's opinion on this, though.

I know some will say it's not fair, but it's probably not fair in a "some idiots cut down all the trees so now there are no trees for anyone" kind of way.

I suggest not to exclude the foreign board. And to impose on all boards coefficients. For example: for the English partition coefficient is equal to 1.0; for non-English 0.1

inb4 this is not intended to be a flame post

I'm "from" the italian board and as far as I can see there WERE some spam posts in the first week/s of the board, but now we are trying to keep the content of our posts in a mid-high quality. So, i don't understand why you refers only to the italian board and not to other boards that (i think) there are so many spammers.

    A few questions:

    1. Who is the italian board mod? (if it does not exists can someone be charged?)
    2. @adam @Cryptonaut is it possibile to be "warned" befor getting our posts buried? Maybe some bad interpretation could be considered spam, but actually it might not be.
    3. Is it possibile to introduce a "downvote/unlike/spam" button? It's the easiest way to monitor this behavior.

    Regards

    1) Can you please let me known in which post did you warn italian users apart the very first post ("fate i bravi") written in the "non english board" before the italian section was opened?

    2) Yes there are some unmeaningful posts in that section but the "agree" "yes I know" posts are mostly done by foreign users writing random words.

    3) An italian mod could really warn them (us) about posts not considered constructive and delete spam posts or ban persistent spammers, I can help with this if you want.

EDIT: I didn't know that badworker was writing here too about the same problem.
