@mike While I'm not the biggest fan of Jed either, his results speak for themselves.
So, second biggest fan?
I don't have a strong opinion about him either way, but he's definitely a crypto-doer, and doesn't seem like a scammer.

This seems like must have. Correct strategy: sign up, get coins, once exchange is available: dump.
Will look into this next week and will sign up too.

Lol, not even close. I just know the smell of a profit opportunity. If it weren't for Ripple and its initial free giveaway, I wouldn't have 90% of my crypto investments.
Most things are worth a shot when they're free, if you ask me :P

Sorry @mike not buying that line about FB. They make that claim, true, but why then do I need to grant them access to my friends list?
I'm with @dpc on this - somewhere betwen skeptical and suspicious - everything about this seems sloppy and careless. Yes, much like the original MTGox and that fine decision to turn his company over to Mark Karpeles.
note: and yet I got my stellars and sent 1000 to @Mike Guess I'm a suspicious opportunist...

I think the access to the friend's list is one of the ways they verify that you didn't just make a random account in order to receive multiple distributions from the giveaway, though I could totally be wrong. It may be malicious, absolutely.

@mike While I'm not the biggest fan of Jed either, his results speak for themselves. He was the founder of Mt. Gox, not the operator when it went to the shitter. Stripe also facilitates bitcoin payments. Facebook is because it is the easiest and largest network to verify that people are not creating dummy accounts to game the giveaway.
Good points. Facebook is currently where the eyeballs are so that makes sense if you're trying to reach a wider audience. It's pretty clear that the crypto community will jump on anything as long as it's free, so why bother marketing to us specifically. Ripple is great other than the unclear distribution. I am most curious about the Stripe connection. It concerns me, but cryptos will need onramps like Stripe and other processors before they gain any real traction.
