Is the Spell of Genesis crowd sale a good investment or not. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

I would think that it is. I mean the potential value of the limited cards is there and showing potential. If BitCrystals are being burned to create decks of cards, reducign supply, then as long as there is demand for the game, the supply value should increase.

I'm taking the gamble. These types of games have followings with people who love trading. This is a great use case for tokens that may finally get some great mainstream attention for Counterparty.

As a MTG player for 15 years, the potential of this game to disrupt the trading card game market is huge. I bought the second package, the 1.07 one, but if i had the money i would have invested 5.

Obviously this is my opinion so please make your own, but i forsee BITCRYSTALS being the first mainstream crypto asset of them all simply because they are innovating a current industry, not re inventing it. Here are the things i think are most valuable about the SOG platform:

    • Cards will not lose value because of condition variables. Physical cards can be completely worthless with the smallest scratch for collectors, there is no chance for that with SOG

    • The ability to compete online in tournaments rather then having to go is huge. I have won many local indianapolis MTG tournaments, but i have never had the money to make it to cali to compete in bigger tournaments, with online i can now do so.

    • The ability for people to make their own games using the same assets is really cool. The magic club i was in during high school (yeah thats right, i was in a magic club :D) we used to always make our own versions of MTG. But since it was all kind of just created with verbal rules, if someone did something not legal, we would argue about it. If people can code new rules into their own platforms this is great

    • trading on the DEX, swapbot, ext... is crucial. Before i would have to wait until i went to tournaments to do some serious trading as my friends who played magic with me wouldnt have as many cards as lets say 100 people that show up to a tournament. and when trading at a tournament before the tournament begins, it can be very time consuming and by the time trading is done the tournament begins and i could not add the new cards easily with complete thought so sometimes cards would mistakenly be added to decks i would not like them to be in. trading globally anytime is fantastic

    • nerds love this stuff. i dont think everyone will be playing SOG as it is a special market for only those of interest, but those who love TCG's are always willing to pay top dollars for. I have a 61 card MTG deck worth $700 and my non MTG friends think i am stupid for spending that much on cardboard, yet i love it :)

    • unlike every other crypto asset, since these are pretty much cards i feel they will retain their value a lot more then BTC, XCP, ext.. as if the card is good, it will always be worth more then the cards that are not. Just like kelly bluebook for cars, there are basically bluebooks for MTG cards that have been established and say this card is worth this amount, you will undoubtable see this happen with SOG cards. Volume doesnt really matter for cards, the black lotus in MTG changes hands maybe 10 times a year and is still worth 5k

Thats why i think it is reat to invest :D Even if you dont play card games, you may want some as they will still be valuable for someone else

I could only do the .2 BTC, but if I had more I would have. The ability to partner, access the store and resell is awesome. Wish I had the funds to do that.

But there is something strange.Right now is said that 14734763 BitCrystals are sold at price 15k BC/Btc

But only 300 Btc was colected. 300 Btc should be 4.5m Bit Crystals not 15 milions.

EDIT: Maybe 600 BTC was not yet confirmed. It seems plan is to collect 4666 Btc

I purchased some SOG (bitcrystals) yesterday, but I haven't received a confirmation email and they don't appear in my pockets wallet.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

I'm not a huge gamer, but out of curiosity, I registered to play their alpha/proof-of-concept, and just bought some (about US$3 worth); and I received some from the FoldingCoin merged folding giveaway, a while ago. Sadly, I don't think that I can afford the cards themselves, right now, without digging into my other altcoins, or buying more BTC for cash - so I'll probably get priced out of buying them, knowing my luck.

I also invested a little into Deckbound (I can never remember the name of that), but given that I still haven't received my cards/tokens yet, it's starting to smell like vapourware, to me.

In any case, they seem like interesting projects, and I wish their developers well.
