Adam,

I download all of the LetsTalkBitcoin podcasts via the iPhone Downcast app.

Downcast and other podcast apps allow you to enter login credentials on a per feed basis, mostly for premium / protected podcast feeds. You could use this credentials feature to keep track of who is downloading LTB podcasts for purposes of issuing LTBCoin. The login username would be the LTBCoin address of the user. That way, you'd be able to account for who downloads and when.

Thanks for considering. And, thanks for all the great podcast content!

This is one option we've been talking about - Basically let users associate their accounts with other services like soundcloud or downcast, and when we see those users have listened (which the account allows us to see) it would associate with their LTB account.

Really the problem is the podcast space is TOTALLY non-standardized, and apple has made things worse by splitting podcasts into a less functional app aside from itunes. This is why we are going towards a "Network Apps" model on all mobile devices, it allows us to use the same accounts on the site and on mobile and we have a consistent delivery mechanism for the majority of users who just want it to work.

So for listeners who want to receive LTBCoin for participating as an audience will need to login to an app or the website? That makes complete sense to me or else you'll have to constantly adapt to whatever new distribution options become available or popular.

@ cc5alive the other option is to embed an code into the audio of each show and let people redeem it on the app or their account.

That would mean that we'd have to time-limit the codes otherwise it would be profitable to keep a list of all the codes and farm new accounts that have all the codes popped in to get a giant share.

To reward stuff we have to track who is doing it somehow, not really a way to avoid it.

Hence now I need to listen podcasts through LTB app on iOS to receive LTBcoin? It is ok, just LTB app not so convenient as native Podcasts app. Can you improve rewinding, add +15 -15 Sec rewinding on so on. Your app is really good, I just want it to be a little bit better.

Yes there are a number of usability features that are about to be started on.

    A few points:

    1) I prefer the Downcast app over the LTB app for podcasts. Since it's highly optimized for podcasts, as that's all it does, It has many features that will never be baked in to the LTB app.

    2) I downloaded the LTB app, but wasn't aware you could log in to the app until you mentioned it.

    3) I understand the difficulties in tracking podcast downloads per user. Seems like it should a be standardized feature.

    4) embedding a code in the audio - could be annoying and could be easily defeated by sharing codes online. How about putting a (protected) link in the podcast show notes that I click on that records I've listened. Or, a link that opens the LTB app, which record that I've listened.

Do you know if there an android LTB streaming app in the works? I had always thought that a dedicated LTB app that prompts the listener once or twice in the middle of the episode to see if they are actually listening would be an effective approach.

Is the App Store 'Let's Talk Bitcoin' app by Marcin Raburski the original and trustworthy app I can download? With the fake coinbase app and others like that, I feel like it's worth asking. Thanks.

We are in the planning stages, the android app was basically put on hold (I had a developer but he has likely taken other work) as we learn from the iOS app and get through the initial LTB growing pains.

Yes, Marcin is the dev on the project.
