Are there currently any systems in place to prevent someone from just commenting lots of time without adding anything to a discussion? It would obviously set off a red flag if someone posts 50 times in a minute, but what about people who just point useless commentary for the sole purpose of getting LTBcoin? Currently I do not see this as being a problem, but increased value ni LTBcoin and increased popularity in the LTB network could attract people with no real interest in contributing value.

I think I heard comments in a podcast a while back relating to this problem. I believe there was mention of something with the function of down-votes (probably by a different name). If someone is spamming then others down-vote the comment. I imagine this would be very easy to implement, and I guess it would go at least some way to achieving the desired effect. There could be downsides to this system though.
Perhaps someone has thought of an idea superior to this?

Good community attracts good community, we're going to turn every community member into a moderator letting them use their LTBc to curate comments and make an ltbc profit from the platform if they do a good job
Roze: ah, I see. decentralized moderation! I think I read or heard about that, you'll weigh the value based on how close to consensus each individals actions are and incentivize a functioning wisdom of the crowd scenarion. Lets see if that solves the "internet troll problem" that gavin spoke about in amsterdam :)
LTBCOIN: Its not fully automated
Basically users put their LTBc at risk betting that it does not meet published standards, ones that are non-controversial are dealt with and compensated automatically, controversial ones have a moderator make apply the rules and take a flat fee (probably 20%) for their service no matter the decision. The losing side donates their LTBc to the winning side, split proportionally. So its not about consensus its about if it will be found to comply with the published standards or not. This will be
Roze: Hmm.. then maybe I read about something else then. That sounds like a good system as well, though only for content publication.
Roze: the same concept should probably work for hiding spam and up/down voting comments on the content as well though. time will tell, I guess.
LTBCOIN: It'll be the system for a bunch of qualitative things, and it works for comment moderation. You don't want "disagree" to be the same as "flag" - This is for "flag"
LTBCOIN: agree/disagree is directly tipping the commenter or someone not the commenter
