@adam I would like to propose extending the window for magic words beyond four days. Maybe one week? It seems like a reasonable window for podcast listening schedules, and is still a quick turn around for proof of listening.

I think 4 days are fine and absolutely fair to enter the magic word.

This time window does not stimulate new users to listen to older podcasts. Another example: I was out of the country for a week lately, but there would be no stimuli for me to catch up with the podcasts I missed.

Sure, I agree, it's "fine and fair." It's a rewards program, so the rules can be whatever Adam decides. However, I think making it 7 days would not dilute the idea of what it's trying to accomplish, and listening to a podcast 5 days after it's released is a pretty common use case, so I thought bumping it up a bit might be a win-win.

4 days is about the maximum amount of time in between new episodes. If anything it's too much time and certainly shouldn't be extended. It's like extending the expiration date of a coupon, people should want to use that coupon (listen to new content) and if they don't check back on a fairly regular basis they will miss out. It encourages new users to visit the site often and contribute to the community.

It seems a bit strange that you think within a week does not constitute a regular basis. And most coupons last longer than four days. I mean, I do see the point of incentivizing the sooner the better, I just didn't expect to get flack for proposing a couple extra days. Am I missing something here? What exactly is lost if a user gets some reward points for listening to a show 5 days after its aired instead of 4?

If a listener is more up to date with the podcast I guess they are more likely to be involved in the discussion that follows and provide more to the network. If you listen seven days after it has been released the discussion around the episode has probably died down.

I listen to almost every podcast the day or the day after it is posted. I agree that a seven day window is reasonable. People are busy, and a week is not really that long in the scale of things.

I have missed magic words earlier, but I mostly get them within the 4 days. I think it evens out over a time for the casual listeners.
If you are a fanatic who can not wait for each episode then you deserve to be rewarded.

If I could vote nay on the referendum. Four days seems perfectly adequate.
