There are some YOLO bots going crazy on the forums atm. Either the Mods are unaware, or there are no mods here. Whatever the case I think a simple solution is to have more mods here that are competent.

I mean I don't even know who the mods are! I have a vague awareness who some are, but know of no way to find out exactly who they are!

As I write this the bots have, so far, got 2 threads going with a total page count of 50 pages!

@adam @krystal @Cryptonaut @deweller @cryptochief @dutchstew @Legendface66

I am guessing some of you are mods and are logged in atm because your names are first in the Currently Online list

    Hi page,

    I'm actually not a mod, just always online on LTB, but if more mods are necessary I could possibly help out. Just out of curiosity, what are those threads?

    Yes - there are lots of spam bots that hit the site. There are mods who are actively responding to the spam posts. They may not respond immediately, but there are people working on it.

    @cryptochief Hi page,

    I'm actually not a mod, just always online on LTB, but if more mods are necessary I could possibly help out. Just out of curiosity, what are those threads?

    I think one has been deleted now, it had about 35 pages when I wrote my post. But, here's the other one -

    @deweller

    Are you a Mod? I think, at least, they need to be more visible. I don't know who to ping. I know there's the Flag/Report option, but I wasn't going to go through the whole thread doing that! lol

    Anyway, this isn't really the biggest problem in the world, I was just thinking there might be a more efficient way to deal with this stuff.

    @kerneloops Yup, mod here, I'm on every day, though sometimes only on a phone so keeping track of multiple spam threads takes a while. Keep flagging them boys and girls!

    I think there needs to be a way to flag a whole thread. The problem was one of the threads looked like it might not have been started by a bot and flagging each post would be too much work.

    Anyway, like I said in my last post, this isn't really the greatest problem in the world. I'm not really sure why I got so excited by the whole thing lol

    I was sleeping when all this went down :)

    Looks like most of the spam was cleared up already by the time I got on, except for that mega long thread in the politics section which I just deleted.

    All those spammer accounts were registered with random emails from @meltmail.com. 700 of them registered in the past 2 days... they are deleted now

    I have mod privileges, but I don't actively delete posts. If you need to ping a moderator, you can ping @rotalumis or @cryptonaut.

    The platform is actively adapting to fight the spammers, but it is an arms race and sometimes stuff gets through.

    Thanks for flagging these posts and bringing this up. We'll develop better systems and processes as the platform evolves.

    There should be the same "Flag/Report" link on the first post in a thread you can use. Sends out a "thread has been reported..." notification instead of "post has been reported"

    @rotalumis @cryptonaut

    OK, thanks. I still think the Mods and Admins should be a little more identifiable and easier to locate. Can't your usernames be a different colour, or something like that?

    yeah, distinguishing members in different user groups is one of the items on our to do list

    Great. I look forward to all the improvements. I'd really like more people here in future, but I'm sure I'm not alone with that sentiment. I think you're doing a great job so far!
