Matt

Since we're considering the possibility of building into a bigger network incorporating shows outside of Bitcoin media. How many coins should there be?

Adam prefers 51,000,000.

I voted for 51,000,000.. although if we're trying to model some elements of Dogecoin, maybe more coins makes sense...-CC

I agree with what Adam B. Levine has articulated about a large number of tokens being conducive to abundant "flow", you know, that general sence that there are plenty and so they might as well be exchanged with relative generosity and frequency, but I really don't know what would constitute "a large number" in this case.

I voted for 510,000,000 as I think there should be more coins than less, that was it 'feels' like it's easier to donate/tip the coins.

    I vote 510,000,000.
I think we should target one coin to eventually be worth about $0.10.
51,000,000 coins is a market cap of $5.1 million.
510,000,000 coins is a market cap of $51 million.

In 5 years, I estimate that the LTB network economy will be closer to $51 million than $5.1 million.  Am I crazy?  A little bit.
Regardless, I propose we estimate high.  It is fun to tip 100 LTBcoin.  It is unsatisfying to tip 0.01 LTBcoin.

I would normally say 51m is plenty, but given I don't really understand the Doge phenomenon, and you want to relieve some of the weight, and encourage tipping..  maybe 510m is a better way to go?  I'd be curious to see if there were no amounts smaller than 1, making there far fewer units than BTC, or Doge, if people would still feel as though there were plenty, and donate freely.

Anything above 1Billion seems like an overkill to me mostly.

I have at this point shifted my opinion to 510M because I don't think it's "worse" than 51M (that's still a huge number of units), and I think that the low value of doge has enabled it to "not be so serious" to spend, which I think is incredibly important.
Can anyone articulate an argument against 510M and in favor of 51M that makes sense?  I've had trouble thinking of one, and I agree with @deweller about a target of $.10 making just as much sense as 51m at $1.00

I also like the 510M, or even bigger.  I like what you said about the doge affect about being cheritable.  This also give the currancy room for lots of growth...which is why I wouldn't even mind a bigger number.  The reason why I say this is mostly because you said that the currancy is not divisable into decibals.
