A lucid dream is a dream where you are aware that you indeed dreaming and from there you have the ability to control the environment and do anything you want...
i would go so far as to say that a lucid dream is one's conscious, though brief, control of that version of themselves in a parallel reality or incarnation.
i started developing my own personal theories about dreams a little over a decade ago, not long before learning about lucid dreaming. the theory i developed was about how dreams may be glimpses into parallel realities and that's why they feel so real. but from what i understood, parallel realities and past lives (previous incarnations) were two different things... yet my dreams often presented experiences that -due to the apparent surroundings or perhaps even a reflection- led me to believe they were glimpses of previous incarnations, not parallel realities...
recently, i've found a particular theory interesting, this idea of multiple simultaneous incarnations... that all things are happening now (so instead of 'reincarnation' and 'previous incarnations', it's 'multiple simultaneous incarnations')... and that, for each person and their respective incarnations, there exists an overseeing version (the source of things like intuition and imagination), checking in on and guiding each one like a collection of video games.
it seemed a nice compliment to my dream theorys, so i conconsidered a combination of this idea with my ideas about lucid dreams... perhaps lucid dreaming is actually a proper hop into another parallel reality or simultaneous incarnation for a bit of a ride...
the first time i actually heard about lucid dreaming... a kid at school was so enthralled by the idea that he would go on about it to anyone that would let him. i actually remember him saying, "is any one even listening?" and i chimed from behind him, "i am..." he spun around and told me everything he knew about it (i didn't understand why no one else was interested...) and then i went in search of more information. it was like a skill was activated, so to speak, by the very idea of the ability to control the wild dreams i'd have on a nightly basis.
it started with the ability to guide the experience ever so slightly with subtle suggestions... like "go the other way..." and for some reason, occassional instant replay... but it's gotten particularly interesting over the past few years... i've been learning to fly... but not like normal flying dreams... not cruising through the air like superman or on a carpet or something... literally learning... as if wings were bestowed upon my arms (which i had to flap like a bird) and i had to learn how to use them like i would a new, complicated piece of technology. there was always a new lesson... there were trials by fire (oh, the zombie dreams... if ever you needed a reason to fly...) i had dreams where i couldn't take off in a crowd... and where i had no idea how to land, and actually went for the tuck-n-roll crash... even the location would vary (a city, a mall/transit center, an obnoxiously large school...) but dream after dream, i got better... as if it really was real. it took me two years to get to a point where flight is almost effortless. however, the only time i can fly is when i'm conscious of the fact that "i can fly in my dreams"... meaning i first have to realise i'm dreaming, gain control, and then remember i can fly... before i can actually fly.
i still don't know if i have actual wings though... i've been wanting to glimpse my reflection when i'm flying... but i keep forgetting... i had one dream where i flew over some guy and he looked up at me and said "you're not flying." i found it confusing... since i was clearly flying... then considered perhaps it was cryptic. it bugged me for days. also, the only bird i know of that can fly with one wing (for example, whislt holding something with the other as if it were a hand) were in cartoons... yet i've managed to do so -as if i were a cartoon- in my dreams... flapping one arm like it's a wing, and not flapping the other because it's holding something large... i always wondered if it was actually possible during the act, but never fell from the sky or anything... so... conclusion... look in a mirror...
anyway...
So my question to all of you guys is .
Have you ever had a Lucid Dream...?
short answer... yes. :)
