I do remember this moment. I was actually searching for ways to make money online. This is when I found some threads on Google for earning free bitcoin. I have not been totally into it for 3 years, though. Maybe, just one and a half. I still have yet to get my first full bitcoin. Saddening, I know, but I think this is about to change.

@eshriek Can't remember where I first heard about it (maybe through grc.com Security Now! podcast). In around early 2012. Heard things here and there for about a year.
In early 2013, I registered for a course on coursera.org about running a Start Up company. They required that you get a bitcoin account and crowd fund. That is when I knew. I became totally obsessed. I dropped all of the coursera.org courses and focused solely on learning about bitcoin.
I know exactly what you mean. I have been obsessed with Bitcoin since the beginning of this year mostly. I am more determined, now than ever before to get my first Bitcoin. I would say, I am obsessed only because I have converted my first little bit of like $10 into real USD. This is through Virwox. They sent it to my PayPal. I was very excited. I know it is not much but seriously, I am an obsessed Bitcoin enthusiasts.

I heard the name Bitcoin as early as 2011. I did not hear a proper explanation until Tom Woods interviewed Erik Voorhees on the Peter Schiff Show in early 2013. If you haven't already heard this interview ... Have a listen. Enjoy!

I heard of bitcoin back when wikileaks started accepting it. Instead of looking more into Bitcoin, I ended up writing a letter to paypal. Wish I would have spent my time better :)
I heard about Bitcoin again from motherboard.tv in 2013. I think it was an article about Silk Road. From there I started reading the related articles at the bottom of the page, and my obsession grew from there.

I was searching the same thing. I actually downloaded the Qt client and the entire blockchain (at that time it only took like an hour), then I remember locking my wallet and getting frustrated that I couldnt unlock it as easily. I basically thought I had wasted an entire afternoon setting everything up and there was no point in actually getting bitcoins since I would never be able to unlock the wallet again lol

Got in when it was 115$ and thought that was high until it jumped to 150,250,600,800,900 and topped out at 1200 before gradually falling to about 600 for a bit which leads us to this point, which for me is still a good 4 times my money since i got in. Another perspective is bitcoin faucets were giving out 10-15k satoshis a visit, and then stayed at 5k before rapidly dropping into the 100's per visit. I miss those days in a way.But in many ways its happening again with other coins, im seeing them give out thousands at start and so many join so fast it quickly is just hundreds under a week when plan was a few months.
Portnoy on bitcointalk sums it up best tho with this "What good is it if one only gets very very small amounts?"
Many will know exactly what that means and the ones who dont , use the search function on bitcointalk forums and you will see what i and Hesham just mentioned.
