@akhzayn @ikidesu Start folding with us and you will be able to in about a day. We like the private forums because it gives a chance for all FLDC holders to get together and talk about the direction of the coin. Also the developers are more open to talk about behind the scenes thiings at FLDC since we know everyone who can view it is a holder. We will still be very active on the public forums, but we like the idea of having a place we the devs feel free to talk openly. Also this is where voting will occur and if you dont hold FLDC, you shouldnt be able to decide what changes need to be made. You only need 1 though :)

@pooktwo Did you receive FLDC on CounterWallet? Here at FoldingCoin we are trying a new concept to mining. We are encouraging those who used to mine BTC with GPU rigs and those who have always had an interest to mine with CPUs but couldn't compete with the ASICs to have a chance to earn a new kind of coin. With FoldingCoin all CPU and GPUs have a chance to generate a token that helps support Stanford University develop new medicines that cure diseases. Please read through our project http://www.foldingcoin.net about how you can earn these tokens and help humanity at the same time.

Put your GPU rigs BACK TO WORK Remember Bitcoin mining early on before the ASICs dominated the market? If you’re like our team then you invested a ton of money into GPUs and CPUs. Well we have the next generation project for all of us – FLDC or FoldingCoin.

How does it work? Point your hardware at the Folding@home network developed by Stanford University. This program uses your computer’s resources to help fold proteins for scientific research. No configuration like CGminer or anything else is needed. This program is very well put together and works straight out of the box.

How do you get coins then? "Tokens" is a better word. When you join Stanford’s Folding@home network, you create a user name (with your Counterparty wallet as the name) and choose team 226728 to fold with. You are then given credits for the work you do. Stanford has a stats page for bragging rights, but with our project we are distributing tokens according to our team members' Folding@home credits. We leverage the Counterparty Bitcoin 2.0 platform to build a new token on top of the Bitcoin network that already exists. Unlike Altcoins that are subject to attacks and difficulty fluctuating all the time, a token on Counterparty is actually secured by the Bitcoin network itself (since it shares the same blockchain as Bitcoin).

UPDATE: We are now starting daily distribution tomorrow Aug 11. Thank you to James for his dedication on getting our automatic payment calculation software up and working and thank you to the LTB network for helping in the distribution of coins easily :)

    Website Overhaul

We have completed a major upgrade to the FoldingCoin website http://www.foldingcoin.net.

The development team has been busy in the last few weeks adding a whole bunch of new content. Things were getting pretty crowded and the team felt it was time for a re-organization and visual refresh. That work was made live tonight.

Check it out and let us know what you think. We're open to comments and feedback.

If you find anything missing that was on the old site, please let us know and we will get it added back in.

One of the nice things about doing a site-wide overhaul is that you get to review all content. Do you realize on our first daily payout August 11th there were only 9 folders paid? Here we are September 27th, a mere 7 weeks later, and we have over 80 active folders and our daily folding credits have increased about 9x. That's great for Stanford's science.

Thank you folders, you are truly Mining for Medicine!

    Call For Developers

We are looking for skilled people to help advance FoldingCoin. We would pay you in FLDC. FLDC payments will be negotiated in the initial skype interview that Robert and James will conduct with you based on your skill and interest. We need to fill the following roles:

    FAH Specialists

One or more folders who have been folding for at least 1-3 years and know FAH well enough to be able to help with new folder questions and help resolve issues relating to the FAH client and configuration.

    Forum Advocates

One or more folders that are knowledgeable about FAH and FLDC to maintain and respond to forums. Any questions that cannot be answered should be referred to the main development team. Great forum ratings on your username are a plus.

    Search Engine Optimization

Somebody with experience in web design and SEO. This would free the main developers to concentrate on other things.

    Meetup advocates/point of contacts

We are reaching out to Meetup groups around the world advocating the use of FLDC as the Meetup currency. We need designated Meetup specialists who are familiar with how Meetups work to follow up on responses. Also schedule Skype meetings with you, the devs, and the Meetups. You should CC the dev team with all your Meetup conversations.
