  • Re: I feel like LTBc is ruining the the forums completely...

I'd like to see some of the other strategies I've heard about on previous posts, like "must have x LTBc" to post. Not going to solve the problem alone, but helps. I suspect a lot of the spammers simply dump the LTBc on the market on the weekends. Making them hold a little will help the value and, perhaps, reduce the number of spammers who don't want to hold.

  • Re: Anonymity

@mdw It's different. It might even offer anonymity that is truly reliable. If so, it'll be the only one.

I assumed you wanted to learn about them, just like @Alchemix assumed you were interested in investing in them. What is your interest anyway?

You are correct about my interest. I appreciate your dumbing it down for me. Not technologically savvy. But, the summary was understandable. Thanks.

  • Re: Anonymity

@mdw Zerocoin, which has the potential for serious anonymity according to those who can follow the math (not me) This is not some glorified shell game like coinjoin & friends, but one with a sound basis in math.

It was formerly known as zerocash. These days the zero knowledge proofs data that gets inserted into the blockchain is getting nice and small, like ~400 bytes. That's still too big for OP_RETURN (40 bytes) for things like counterparty. But it's perfect for something like Namecoin to implement because it allows up to 1k of arbitrary data.

I have no idea what you just said.

  • Re: Developing Story: USMS and FTC Raid on Butterfly Labs

This story is bitter sweet. Personally, I'm so glad BFL has been shut down. Not only did they fail to provide promised product in a timely fashion, but they treated their customers like shit throughout the process.

However, the fact that the market couldn't take care of this cancer and that we needed a government agency to step in to shut BFL down is a blow to those who believe that an unrestrained market is better than one managed by government.

Were wannabe miners blinded by their dreams of quick riches? Was the new wave of customers that ordered Monarchs just plain stupid? Far too many people were hurt by BFL and the market was too slow to react. Hell, the FTC was too slow to react, but at least they ultimately did.
