  • Re: LTBc Fantasy Football

    @loon3 I just paid the first weekly distribution to FFLTEAMF aka Smokey Bandits, Week 1's Top Scorer with 125.36 pts.

    I also didn't realize that you could pay distributions to any asset regardless of whether you own it, verrry interesting.

    Very cool indeed! Just out of curiosity if you don't mind me asking, how is that distribution taking place on the back end? Do you use the counterwallet address associated with the particular FFLTEAM(X) token, and pay with the league address or some other way?

  • Re: LTBc Fantasy Football

    @loon3 Agreed. I suppose my way of saying I liked all three options was that I liked any of them for the league.

    I cannot immediately think of a better way to do it than to issue the same amount for each team, but I'm sure others out there might have different thoughts.

    @loon3

    Regarding increasing the number of tokens for your team (with any winnings to be paid to tokenholders as a dividend), this is something we can still do. I'll think about how to structure that and send out a message to the league this weekend. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

    I still love this idea! I think there could be a few different ways this could be implemented:

    • Have a team token pay a dividend to any token holders if and only if that team ends up winning the league.

    • Have a team token pay a dividend to any token holders if and only if that team scores the most amount of points each week.

    • Have a team token pay a dividend to any token holders if and only if that team wins their matchup that week.

    I like all of these options really, and each have their merits. The first allows time for a market to form but only rewards one team. The last two allow for more investors to receive dividends, but there is such a short turnaround on the market from week to week.

    Any more options on the table?

  • Re: Untradable Token?

    @wildjo I appreciate these replies. Maybe go a slightly different direction:

    Assuming there is no way to keep from trading, is it possible to create an app that would monitor the blockchain and ping me if a particular token was transferred out of a watched address?

    Right now, you can implement the IFTTT chain channel to send you a push notification whenever any Bitcoin is sent out of an address of your choosing. However, I suspect this is not quite what you are seeking because it only applies to Bitcoin and not any meta layers like Counterparty.

    @kerneloops @Hesham_3del @cryptonaut

    Just was out on a run (where I sometimes seem to do my best thinking) and I believe I came up with good idea for how to implement the introductory questionnaire idea into the user experience of joining the site.

    For the beginning user just looking to get their feet wet with crypto, they perhaps would welcome the idea of a waiting period where they could learn more about crypto, LTB, etc, and earn a nominal amount of LTBc for their troubles during that time.

    However, for more experienced crypto-enthusiasts, they perhaps would be rather turned off by the idea of wasting time on a questionnaire or introductory waiting period. Rather than turn away that user from joining the site, perhaps the introductory survey could be waived if that user chooses instead to donate a nominal amount of BTC (maybe the amount equivalent to 1000LTBc, or about $1USD) to a wallet with the purpose of helping cover the BTC fees that come from the distribution of Counterparty assets such as LTBc. If there was any extra funds in this wallet at the end of a weekly distribution, it could perhaps be given back proportional to the users that signed up that week as a rebate. Or, rolled over from week to week to compensate for other unknown fees in the future.

    This way, there would be two forms of proof that you are taking the being a part of the LTB community seriously. Either with your proof of education, or proof of donation. What do you guys think?

  • Re: [WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION] How shall we fight those spammers ?

    @kerneloops Exactly!

    Perhaps having some forum examples as well (usernames removed) of spammy posts serve as multiple choice examples of what is spam and what is not. Like:

    Which of the following is considered spam:

    User 1: ^^awesome post !!!! ;)

    User 2: I really enjoyed this article. Do you have any suggestions on how I can learn more about this topic?

    This is obviously a basic example, but I'm sure more could be identified from the countless spam postings out there. I'd even be happy to compile a list and make some more LTB questions if this is something the community thinks would be a good idea!

  • Re: [WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION] How shall we fight those spammers ?

    I don't know how possible this would be to implement, but I still think passing a little "LTB questionnaire" in addition to the suggestions above would be a cool requirement for new users.

    IMO, would essentially kill two birds with one stone:

    -Educates new users about LTB, LTBc, and forum etiquette. Also, answers many FAQ's by having the user do the work to find these answers. All without happening in a series of repetitive forum Q&A posts.

    -Eliminates the early junk post onslaught from new users tying to just game the system for LTB by incentivizing the early user instead to be educated about LTB with a nominal LTBc reward for "proof of education."

    I do understand the need to not come off as limiting new users. However, if a bottleneck is going to be created, why not create one that also serves as an educational tool?

  • Re: IFTTT Chain Channel

    @deweller

    @therealtwig But, I'd like to think about it as sort of a push notification to check my counterwallet because something has just been put into it.

    If I included the total balance of the asset (or all assets) in the email from EmailMe, would that be a more compelling reason to use my service?

    I think that functionality would most definitely be something that separates your service more from what IFTTT is already offering with Chain. Having the option to at least receive a notification saying what specific asset was added to your account would be pretty cool. The final balance could even just be an optional thing for the user.

  • Re: IFTTT Chain Channel

    Just for fun, I created an IFTTT recipe that will automatically send a tweet out when any amount of BTC is sent to your LTBcoin compatible address.

    The tweet says the following:

    Woot! Just received LTBcoin! To find out how you can too, visit http://letstalkbitcoin.com (via Chain)

    If you like this trigger, feel free to use it!

    Also, @dpc Thanks for the heads up on the google sheet trigger! Going to be playing around with this soon!
